I'm not going to lie: I have mad love for Atlus' Persona series of videogames. No other series gives you classic RPG goodness with a modern twist, combined with the most insane storylines and messed up characters. It's briliantly f*cked up, and I hope it never ever ends.
The series has always had a shaky history, though. I remember some raised concerns when the original Persona title was released. Some were up in arms about the religious overtones and demonic references. We eventually saw a localized version, though several changes were made in the process. We eventually got Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, but its sister game, Persona 2: Innocent Sin, never saw the light of day outside Japan. This may have had something to do with the game's subject matter. I guess they thought that America wasn't ready for Hitler and homosexuality in their RPGs.
Now, with the success of the PS2's Persona 3, and the upcoming Persona 3: FES and even Persona 4, it seems that people are beginning to seek out earlier series titles. Our very own GoldenDonut is on the case, and he tells us that a fan translation for Innocent Sin is in the works. Gemini is working on it as we speak, and although there is no game patch as of yet, we'll remain hopeful for the future. Word is that we might get a nice Christmas gift. Some of you may need to ask Santa for a modded PS1 as well.
Come on, Gemini. We're rooting for you.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
A bit too much? Nah...
hint hint
Sooner or later i will NOT get around to giving it a second try
Course I never got that far into it and thus far, Nocture was the only game of the tensei line that I've enjoyed so who knows if I would like it anyway.
At first I assumed it would run on a modded PSP but Gemini states in the FAQ section that the game crashes during battles. I have no idea why it doesn't work but at the moment it just doesn't.
It seems to be a problem with the PSP's emulation. Even Eternal Punishment doesn't work. Persona 1 seems to work fine though.
I'm dying for the finished fan translations of Mother 3 and Policenauts!
Gemini, whoever and wherever you are, WE'RE BAKING COOKIES FOR YOU!
