Will the patch transform my shitty PC to play this game?

id love to see ps3 get this exclusive and actually run it well. that would at least show that the ps3 really is stronger.

This game would force my 3 year old PC to implode into the netherworld. Somehow I think this patch isn't gonna fix it.

Maybe this patch will go out and buy PC's fast enough so that more than 0.05% of the population can play it. yes?

About time,

I run everything on med (except textures and water res = low) and it's decent. Hopefully this adds a few solid FPS to my game, high settings are out of the question.

Good fixes for the 2 people that are able to play it at its full capacity.

I really want to play this without my computer exploding and me dying in the process.

@Scrixx

It's a FPS game and that's about it. I don't find it mind numbing at all, it's mostly hype imo. Besides the MEGA great graphics that it has (and only .02% of people woth comps can even get) it's a generic shooter.

I like the destructable buildings and trees the best.

Uncharted was a more defined and delivered game.

First time I read the caption I thought it meant "slap a face with an inanimate object", which also works quite well.

God just called - and said this really helped speed things up on his machine.

Also, less crashes = happier universe.

This game looks really good on medium settings alone. I can't imagine what it would look like on the "Very High" settings...

imagine running this game on that new hyper-wide monitor that Alienware announced a few days ago. *drool*

but does a PC config exist that could run the game at the monitors default crazy-high resolution?

@spykron

Yeah, too bad none of the current consoles support DirectX10 or ShaderModel 4.0

At least not to my knowledge.

The PS3 is still using SM 3.0 or 3.0+ which is high end DX9. (RSX GPU) This could have been modified, I don't know though, I haven't really been following the PS3 hardware since launch.

The same thing applies with OpenGL 3.0. None of the current consoles are up to par with GL3.0. True next gen graphics will be PC only for now.

I think some of this is for that new 3 foot wide monitor that just shown at CES(it even had Crysis playing on it). That thing is insane. These updates sound awesome. Too bad I won't be able to play this for another week.

Turn it up to 'Very High' and check out the individual frames as they slowly change in front of your eyes. Each frame should be rendered fully, it will just be a slideshow. Now, imagine that level of detail running at an acceptable framerate. Then, wipe the drool from your chin.

I'm running the game on 'medium' across the board. I'm annoyed at the amount of 'pop-in' there is. Bushes and rocks are popping in all over the freaking place, and want to know if that is normal for the medium setting. I find it unacceptable and very distracting.

Nvidia at CES had a three way SLI with three 8800gtx in a quad core... settings at very high and like 1800pixels... they said that the framerate was like 30-40 and then it dropped below 20...

@robcat09

I think I might just try that.

And about the pop-ins..that is one of the first things I noticed..I was using Maximum Speed along a beach and rocks would pop out of nowhere. That is really the only thing that bugged me graphically.

Uh..I just tried it and it was actually bearable. I think I got a stable 30 frames a second without OC. Granted, it got a little annoying when I turned AA to 8x..but it still worked. That's all besides the point though.

IT'S FUCKING GORGEOUS!

I really couldn't believe my eyes..it was just unreal..

Now, I believe the motion blur effect comes for free. It was turned on automatically after the update, turned off and on the motion blur and there wasn't a change in frames per second. The game is playable on medium settings, and aside from the pop-ins, it looks quite good.

This looks right up my alley, running on the upper end settings atm, and I just need litterally 3 FPS to get the game to be absolutely playable, the difference of 30 fps to 27 is quite a gap, oddly enough. (I would be in love if I could get this game to 40FPS while on highish settings, but im not spending 500 of GT SLI's.)

hopefully, this patch will let me re-enable my precious rpom...please, I do love my bumpy beaches!

To cbre88x;

Are you sure you weren't playing Unreal Tournament 3? Your last sentence confused me.

well, Just tried the patch, wow, I expected maybe 7% more FPS, but I've gotten about a full third more, extra 7 FPS actually makes this game playable on High/VeryHigh, getting about 40FPS avg now with mostly custom settings, brilliant, makes we actually want to play this game again, but with performance this time!

It's really not that hard (or expensive) to get Crysis running at a steady 30-40 fps with all the settings on High (Very High's a different story). I've got an older Core Duo (6420), 2GB of DDRII-800 Ram, and one 8800GT (Not a terribly expensive card), and Crysis runs just fine for me :)

Anybody know if I can set a custom refresh rate in the game yet? When I ran the Crysis demo, it forced the refresh rate to be 68, which screwed up my monitor.

@MrFrunkus

Yea..I am damn sure I wasn't playing UT3.

And Skylance is right..it really isn't that bad to run Crysis at a bearable setting with everything on the highest setting possible.

My Machine-
AMD 64 Athlon X2 3600+
3 Gigs DDR2 RAM
EVGA 8800 GT 512 DDR3
250 Gig HD
19" LCD Widescreen

I've spent a total of $860 over the past 6 months for this machine. Not bad at all..I can run COD4, Bioshock, Lost Planet, Half-Life 2, TF2 (ect. ect.) with all high settings at an average framerate of 75-80. That is without OC'ing the card.
