Perfect Dark XBLA set to have online multiplayer photo

Perfect Dark for the XBLA was finally confirmed last week during the madness that was E3. It's probably one of the best news to come out of E3 for me. Yes, I know that Perfect Dark doesn't really stand the test of time when it comes to FPS games, but it was one of my all time favorite games on the Nintendo 64 and I will gladly pick this game up again.

4J Studios is behind the revival of this classic shooter, which is going to be in full HD, 1080p and will be running at 60 frames per second. Everything that was in the original game will be here (no Expansion Pak required!) and there's going to be new Xbox LIVE features such as online multiplayer.

Below are some screenshots for Perfect Dark XBLA and it's hard to say if going HD, 1080p on a Nintendo 64 game is a good thing. It's like comparing a picture of dog sh*t taken with a cell phone camera to a picture of dog sh*t taken with a Canon 10MP camera. One looks better, but they're still both pictures of dog sh*t.

By the way, don't forget the free Perfect Dark dashboard theme before it's gone for good!

The screens for Perfect Dark in HD make me fucking drool. Can't wait for its release so I can go back to defending my briefcase with a laptop gun.

So they've brought PD up to the standard of Half:Life?

Well done, them. But who hasn't been playing it on N64 or emulator all this time anyway?

Wow... Normally I can agree with you guys but the dog shit statement just came off arrogant. This game had some great level designs and beautiful concepts and while the rendering and texture qualities was lacking because of the N64's processing power it still looks great. In fact I would rather look at these graphics over almost 50% of modern day shooters that are filled with poor uninventive designs.

That's just me though.

Perfect Dark? With a decent controller?

Fucking YES.

Also to anyone who owned the original, the screens are sex.
They've upped the anti aliasing or something cause it looks better there than it does on my emulator.

I really thought the graphics were going to receive more of an update, sorta like the screenshots that were leaked awhile back showing off Goldeneye.

I didn't like Perfect Dark Zero at all, but I think I'll pick this up, because I loved Goldeneye on the N64. (although I would have liked to see the XBLA remake of Goldeneye happen)

This "dog shit" was a lot of fun on the N64, namely the 4 player co-op battle mode against the sims.

We played this game for days and days just like Goldeneye in battle mode. The graphics were always incredibly bad in multi-player split-screen mode but we didn't care because it was tons of fun. Now with 1080p? I am going to buy this the day it comes out.

Magnalon: They need to give us Goldeneye too!

Give me an RCP120 and drop me in the Facility map and I'll be set. Man, this flashes me back to sophomore year in high school.

Hamza doesn't know what he's talking about with these screenshots, because he is forgetting that the N64 was one blurry mess. All games, no matter the graphics, were output in 240i and scaled up to 480i. The effect was like smearing vaseline over your TV. The difference is already night-and-day when Nintendo takes an N64 game and releases it on Virtual Console, which is in 480i/480p, and I saw similar wonders worked in the XBLA port of Banjo-Kazooie. These screens don't quite have that difference, but they look at least as clear as 480i screens, so that will be reason enough to appreciate the HD facelift.

Of course, once your friends start punching you in multiplayer, you'll get a blurry screen anyway...

@Necros: I played Super Mario 64 on emulator and was blown away. It looked like it was upscaled to HD. Everything was so bright and crisp.

I am so fucking excited. also, I predict an achievement for finding all the secret cheese in the game! (google it)

why not turn up the antialiasing on your emulator?

They better let us use the XBox Live Vision camera to upload our faces! Also: WHERES MAH GOLDENEYE AT!?

Although when PD64 came out, it was basically GoldenEye64-2, fixing/updating the previous game, but I have never, ever, EVER played a videogame that had levels that were EXACTLY like the scenes/stages from the movie they were based on. And thus, the only ever good movie-to-game transition ever.

Yes, yes, I recognize Bourne Conspiracy. And Lost: Via Domus. SHH! /rant
