People still having problems with Fallout 3 'The Pitt' DLC photo

Man, Bethesda can’t get break. Xbox 360 Users are still reporting problems with Fallout 3’s ‘The Pitt’ downloadable content that released earlier last week. An official posting on the Bethesda blog, indicates that players are complaining of freezing issues, which is slightly better than the rainbow-soldiers and fat exclamation marks that early downloaders were greeted with after the content was uploaded onto Xbox Live.

The post makes it clear that Bethesda are on the issue. “We’re working with Microsoft to get a version of ‘The Pitt’ that corrects the aforementioned freezing issue,” the post reads. “Once the content is up and available, we’ll let you know.”

I recently played through the entirety of ‘The Pitt’ without a single problem. Have any of you experienced issues? You know, aside from "my Xbox overheated" or whatever.

I'm sure this is a very isolated issue.

To anyone who has it, though; Are this and Anchorage satisfying, and worth the money? To me, both are way too much money considering how little content you get.

I still haven't beaten the main game so I haven't gotten around to any of the DLC for it.

Anchorage was satisfying. It was a great change of pace, though I wish I had done it in the middle of my quest rather than near the end; the loot is pretty tight.

I've got The Pitt, and imo it was well worth it. 800 points is only about 6 quid and I spent a good 8 hours in The Pitt, exploring, finding all the items etc. Visually it's really different to the main game as well so it feels really fresh.

OA, not so much. 800 points was a bit much for such a stripped-down experience.

I'm getting floating trees and the usually stuff that Bethesda has decided to not fix on the PC. Why do they even let you jump in this game if it causes you to get stuck or doesn't work half the time. Also, since the first patch V.A.T.S has been horribly slow, and seems like it's gonna lock the game every once in awhile. OA was lame, but the rewards were cool if you started a new game. The Pitt has been ok so far, but the level cap and taking of all your stuff is getting frustrating. If the 3rd DLC doesn't remove the cap and let you keep your stuff I'm gonna skip it.

3rd DLC is bumping the cap to 30, for sure.

Weapon removal, on the other hand, is a pretty cool mechanic to force players into a proper challenge for once. The Steelyard and arena wouldn't have been anywhere near as cool or fun as they were if you had your usual arsenal of a fatboy, Gatling Lazer, Lincoln's Rifle, and decked out in your massive power armor.

I played it completely though and got most of the bars and did not experience a single problem.

I never needed to download any patch at all for my PC version.

To me it feels like a way to make the game feel like it works with DLC. With the cap at 20 there is no reason to play the DLC in your existing game unless you really like to collect stuff and get achievements. So I started a new game to play just the DLC, and then maybe play through the game again once I'm done. Problem with this is that the DLC is in areas that require a good amount of effort to get to, so if you're fresh out of the vault and ready to head to AO prepare for a fight. Heading to The Pitt? Good luck, since it's all the way at the top of the map. Well I fought my way to AO, beat it, got the cool armor, blew up Megaton to have a place to store the goodies, and headed up to the Pitt. Got to the radio tower, fought through that, got to the Pitt, and had all my stuff stolen from a bunch of punks with sticks that I KNEW I could have destroyed. Now I'm in the pit, at level 12, and it feels like the only reason they took my stuff was to make the DLC playable since most people would be going in to the Pitt at 20. But I'm not at level 20, so I'm running through stimpacks like a madman while trying to fight through it with a pistol that does 3 damage, WTF?!?!?! They could have added 10 levels for each expansion and I would have been perfectly fine with playing them with my normal character. Instead they leave the cap which makes the DLC frustrating for a low leveled character, yet (probably) far too easy with someone who's maxed out. I would have really like to see them do this GTA style, with every expansion being a new story with a new character that starts at 1. Instead they tried to rig the DLC to work with your existing character and it ends up feeling broken. One more thing, do they seriously expect me to believe that I can make it all the way from DC to Pittsburgh on a HAND-POWERED RAIL CART?!?!?! Jesus Christ what a joke.

I have The Pitt DLC on the 360, beat it, and experienced absolutely no problems with it.

No problems with The Pitt so far, and the new patch has improved the visuals noticeably.

I never had any problems with the Pitt (other than not realizing that I had to give the steel ingots to Everett to get the achievement and wandering around the steelyard for two hours, but that's not the same kind of thing).

I don't get all the OA gripes. Is it really that bad of a value to get 3-5 hours of entertainment out of a $10 add-on? Compare that to spending the same to watch a 2 hour movie, for instance. It's not as if Bethesda said that the DLC was going to be 20 hours long, for God's sake. I had no problem with the setting or story itself, either, as it was a pretty cool way to get the game out of its natural habitat.

It froze to the point where I had to turn off the power 3 times, although that happens once in a while when I'm playing the normal game, so I didn't think anything of it. I've noticed that Fallout 3 has frozen more since I deleted it from my harddrive to make room for Rockband songs...

Bethesda can't get a break? They released either unfinished content, or poorly tested content.

On another note, for those of us who thoroughly cleared the content that came with the game, will there be enough in the third expansion to gain ten more levels?

I had it freeze once but on a loading screen, it popped black but that was it.

and not directly connected to the pitt but very close to the transition area on the way back over encumbered i dropped off a clifftop near fort constantine only to drop inside a boulder and not be able to get out and there was no autosave once i got out so i had to re run over encumbered halfway across the pitt bridge. took me an hour to get back to megaton.

It froze on me 3 times trying to go through a door and the framerate was very choppy at some points. I ended up getting through it after a while though.

I played through it with very minor problems; a couple flickering objects here and there, and one NPC that would mouth words but nothing would come out (after I spoke to them and finished a quest related to them).

Users on Bethesda's forums are saying that the issue might be due to the fact that people had explored the area where the Pitt tunnel is. I had only gone as far as Fort Constantine and Raven Rock, but never went north or west of them. Sounds like the DLC is causing the main game to freak out; it is saying that the player can go into this tunnel and head to the Pitt, but the main game is saying it can't do that and has an aneurysm.

Never had a problem with Fallout 3. There's a few glitches sometimes but nothing game breaking and some are actually funny (an exploding car getting stuck in a lamp post and when it gets unstuck it flew pretty far).

"One more thing, do they seriously expect me to believe that I can make it all the way from DC to Pittsburgh on a HAND-POWERED RAIL CART?!?!?! Jesus Christ what a joke."
How dare they put something so unrealistic in my game about post-apocalypse, mutants and virtual reality.

Well, I gave up on fallout 3 after I realised I wasn't having fun. I dunno, I'll come back to it when the modding scene is better, but for now, I've gone back to Oblivion - that modding scene is stronger than ever.

No problems for me. I've even played through it twice already, once as my goody two-shoes Wasteland heroine and another on my ne'er-do-well, drinkin' smokin' raidin' and ghoul hatin' macho man. Very tasty bit of DLC, I'd say. Very old-school feeling. But aside from this needless banter, I'd chalk it up to isolated incidents with only the propensity of overheating to blame. Seriously, it happens to me at least once or twice a week. No RRoD, though! Yay!
