Penny Arcade Adventures coming to PSN photo

I loved Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness so much that as soon as I finished it, I promptly went back to the title screen and started a second playthrough with hardly a second thought. The type of games that perfectly cater to my desires for adventure, humor and fun are few and far between; add in the setting and time period, and I was in heaven.

I'm thrilled to be able to announce that Hothead Games is bringing the title to the PS3. It should be available by late fall 2008 and be similarly priced to the 360 and Steam versions of the game. PS3 owners, if you like eclectic adventures, I can't recommend this one to you enough. Check out the full press release after the jump.

PENNY ARCADE GAME COMING TO A PLAYSTATION®3 SYSTEM NEAR YOU

VANCOUVER, British Columbia - July 23, 2008 - Hothead Games today proudly announced that its well received Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness, Episode One is currently in development for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and will debut on PLAYSTATION®Network late fall 2008.

Penny Arcade Adventures: On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness is an RPG-Adventure game series set in the comic-book-meets-pulp-horror-meets-H.P. Lovecraft deranged 1920s universe of New Arcadia, delivered to gamers via accessible episodic releases. Players join Gabe and Tycho, the crime-solving team of the Startling Developments Detective Agency, to combat savage enemies and solve mysteries hidden deep in the sinister heart of New Arcadia. The game is the result of close collaboration between Hothead Games and Penny Arcade, featuring distinct artwork and characters designed exclusively by Mike "Gabe" Krahulik, story and dialogue by Jerry "Tycho" Holkins, and all brought to life by the Hothead team.

"We keep getting emails asking why our Penny Arcade game is not on PSN," said Hothead's CEO, Vlad Ceraldi. "We have always said we wanted to have our games on as many platforms as possible to give choice to gamers. All good things take time and we are very excited to be debuting our first PS3 title and look forward to bringing more games to this platform in the future."

The PLAYSTATION®3 system version of Episode One will be priced in line with the game on other platforms.

Wow. Smooth move admitting to downloading a game illegally.

I enjoyed the first one. Can't wait for episode 2. I hope it's cheaper though. 20 bucks seems a tad high.

Nice. I really wanted to play this game, but due to a lack of 360s in my house, I will be happy to pick it up for PS3.

What Brainderailment said. But it's cool that it's being offered to those that may want it.

Yeah, I'm a wild hacker. I thrive on stolen software. that's why I'm interested in the new paid version of the PSN.

Gee, I must be the only guy in Brazil who actually pays for stuff. so EXCUUSE ME if I couldn't care less about sounding legit.

While I'd definitely buy the game at a lower price point, $20 is still too steep for me. There are so many 360 games that I can pick up on gamefly for $20 or less that I would rather play.

If PSN of XBLA ever get a system in place that drops the price on older games, I might check this out.

I guess I'm not understanding. Didn't Tycho say this would never show up on PSN due to it being developed in the Torque engine (which PSN could not run, apparently)?

Maybe I'm misinformed, or they found a way to port it.

Oh snap! This is great news. While I agree with HarassmentPanda -- I feel like $20 is a bit much; $15 would've been a much easier pill to swallow -- I'm definitely going to check this out when it hits the PSN, since I don't own a 360. I just hope they put a demo on the PSN along with the game.
