PEGI lists Call of Duty for XBLA/PSN photo

According to one of PEGI's ratings, Call of Duty is heading to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in the near future. The game is rated 16+, but outside of that, we have little to go on.

Whether or not this is the original Call of Duty or a brand new one designed for digital download is unclear, but our money is on the former. A reissued Call of Duty is bound to be easy money, and Activision loves itself some of that stuff.

Would you buy the original Call of Duty for your 360 or PS3? I never really cared about the series until Infinity Ward came up with Modern Warfare, but I might be interested in digging up the series' roots. While you mull this over, do make sure to check out the news about Modern Warfare 2, which we ran last night.

I doubt i would get it again. this is the game that knocked medal of honor off of it's high horse though.

If it's the original PC CoD (and not the crappy Xbox port one) this would be totally amazing. The multiplayer in CoD1 was absolutely great.

CoD2 was pretty slick on the 360. Pick it up in a bargain bin sometime.

I still have a copy of the first CoD for PC lying around somewhere so it's a no thanks methinks.

I might get the demo/trial just to see what it's like, never did get a chance to play the first CoD.

You could probably buy the original call of duty for the pc on Amazon for like 3 bucks.

This just seems totally pointless. Do people really want to play Call of Duty 1 (if that's what it is) when most have got either Modern Warfare or World at War anyway? Why? All this'll be is a less refined, uglier version of the same game but with less features...

@Timmeh:

It has vehicles.

The original CoD was absolutely amazing when I first played it, but I doubt it's aged well. Even when it was graphically unparalleled, it lacked in single player replay value and Battlefield 1942 was more than it's match in multiplayer.

I fear that the intensity that made this game so great would be somewhat lost on today's generation who have been exposed to WWII shooters and intense firefights that, while built on the back of this game, far surpass it.

@ John Johnson

You are completely right, I loved the first CoD, but compared to shooters today, I guess it would be slightly less intense.

By the way, the last level was awesome.

I would not re-buy this game, but it's a nice idea if it was a port. Wouldn't that be really large though as a download? Maybe too large for XBLA?

I'll stick with CoD4 until Modern Warfare 2 comes out, myself.

Call of Duty is free on Goozex if you sign up. I think you still get a free 100 points for signing up.

This game is seriously unappreciated and it's sorta sad the things Timmeh and others are saying about it. IMO the multilayer is still unmatched simply because it had the most well-designed maps out of all the COD games. COD4 is a corridor shooter in multi by comparison, and yes, this game is refined and well balanced despite claims. Single player is exceptional, but the few solo missions aren't anything spectacular.

If you haven't played this game yet but consider yourself a COD fan, then you're kidding yourself and I don't know why you haven't already have gotten this. It runs on any PC nowadays and online's still going strong. The console version may be good but I would say get it for PC since the higher difficulties REQUIRE you to have twitch reflexes and extreme accuracy. Also the few hits and you're dead mantra still holds, except there's no recharging health, and while you get health off of corpses in multi, on veteran, there are no healthpacks.

I played the original Call of Duty to death...but i don't think i would do it again, especially since you can easily get it for PC.

This reminds that I should play CoD1 again.

I love the game's SP, had some of my favorite SP moments from all the CoD games.

CoD 1 is still the best of the series. I will buy it on principle.

I never played one (I started with two). So yeah, I would definitely consider picking this up. Plus Infinity Ward made it, so you can't really go wrong.

I also think the original CoD was the best. I doubt I would buy the "Hardened Edition" of CoD:MW2 just for this download, since I already have it for PC...
