Peek at the PlayStation Store's new look photo

Sony sends details on and a picture of (above) the upcoming PS3 PlayStation Store remodel.  They tell us to expect a mid-April launch of their new online storefront, which will sport a "more dynamic look and improved navigation." This revamp is supposed to enable quicker and easier access to demos, games, videos, and trailers.

Due to some behind-the-scenes tinkering, no additional content will be posted on the store starting April 3rd. Don't worry though, everything already up will still be accessable. They say that things will eventually resume as normal, and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue will be coming along for the ride.

Be on the lookout for that mid-April firmware update. This will enable the new, revamped store. There's no word on if it will also enable the in-game XMB feature we've all been waiting on.

Awesome. Hopefully the new PSN Store is an actual application, rather than just a web browser looking at a PSN store website. That would be a major step in the right direction.

Looks really nice, although I didn't have much of a problem with the original store an alternative to the webpage style is welcome.

Playstation Blog has confirmed the new store will not be browser-based, which makes me very happy.

Oh, and navigating with the X and O, rather than L1 and R1. Very good change right there.

as long as the navigation is easier I'm a happy camper.

Easier navigation and no longer a webpage. Sounds good to me. They have confirmed that the new store will come with update 2.30. I'm sure that will also have fixes for the mp4 problems people are having. Just need to hold out for another 2 weeksish.

Oh hey, now it looks less like a iTunes ripoff and more like an Xbox Live Marketplace ripoff.

At least it's application based. The current store is slow and clunky.

Thank goodness. The current store is horrible, and navigation is slower than it should be.

That looks great! I hope they also speed up the navigation. Everything takes a few seconds to actually “go”.

Supposedly it's modeled from the Singstore.

TBH it just looks the same with a layout change that looks atm just as bad judging from that screenshot.

Am I missing something?

I see the "Back" button still exits the store, instead of actually going "Back".

Who the hell did they hire to design the interface?

That looks a lot more easily navigable. Nice.
