If the entirety of Pearl Jam’s classic album Ten being playable in Rock Band wasn’t enough for you, sleep well knowing there’s a hell of a lot more on the way.
It appears there’s some sort of Pearl Jam Rock Band project in the works, and the band’s fans are being asked to help shape the set list based on live recordings. Pearl Jam’s official Web site is asking fans to listen to various song recordings using Rhapsody in an effort to choose “the best version” that will be placed on the set list for the forthcoming project to be released in 2010.
The song that’s listened to by users most will then be entered into consideration for the final track list. Fans are being asked to choose and listen to over 40 tracks, so if you’re actually participating in this you’d better like Pearl Jam. I mean, that’s a lot of damned Pearl Jam.
It’s unclear where these songs will end up, but one can speculate that a retail live disc (a la AC/DC Live: Rock Band) makes sense. We’re not sure if we need 50 some-odd Pearl Jam songs in our Rock Band collection, but we’re thinking “why not?” And as long as the songs are transferable to a hard drive, we’re okay with this thing.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!

Also, there is nothing here nor there that says all 50-or-so songs will be in the final product. Pearl Jam's site, itself, says that only the most played will be -considered- for the final cut so it's no guarantee. Be happy that there's even a huge selection for possible tracks that may appear in the final product.
Wait for a FULL official HMX announcement before you start BAWWWWWING like hell about "too many games" and all that shit. If it's exportable to your hard drive, it's just like buying a CD that you can import onto your RB2 game. It's not like those damn Neversoft games where they are all completely incompatible. Will it really be a full game?
We don't know anything, just stay calm.
As for the songs themselves, this seems pretty amazing and I'm definitely going to have to give some of these a listen. I should really listen to Pearl Jam more
"Once you have the widget open, listen to the version you think is the best. The versions that are played the most times will be deemed the best versions and will then be in consideration to make the final “set list” for the game."
How are you meant to know which one you like the best before you listen to it? I predict the version at the top of each list will be the "best".
