PC version of Prince of Persia won't be receiving DLC photo

The PC version of Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia won’t be receiving downloadable content. Ever. A recent posting by Ubisoft’s community manager on their official message board carries the bad news. “Unfortunately for business reasons we won’t be seeing an PoP DLC appear,” he told users. “Sorry guys!” he exclaimed over the Internet after punching every PC owner of the game in the gut with a mere sentence.

What the hell will be Prince of Persia’s DLC? It’s called “Epilogue” and it’s due out in late February. As the name implies, it will take place after the game’s conclusion and have players fighting a new boss in a completely new area with new abilities.

Sounds great, right? Too bad PC people won’t be getting their hands on it.

In before the inevitable discussion that will ultimately go nowhere. Ubisoft is reacting in the wrong way towards these "business reasons", mainly because it's easier to play the blame game and marginalize a platform they (wrongly) believe is compromised than it is to construct an appropriate business model.

I got it for the PS3 and was severely disappointed by it. It was just so repetitive and dull. So frustrating and drawn out.

I bought it for 15, completed it, traded it in for 12.
Wasn't even worth the 3. I had to play it through twice to get the platinum, and the second time through (and the later part of the first) I hated it and had to force myself to play it, just to get the trophies so I could get rid of it.

My first dabble with the PoP series did not go down well with me. :(

@corican: Me too, traded without finishing it..

Ubisoft has a problem lately where their games start off with a great first impression and then go nowhere.

FarCry2: Holy shit this looks amazing, wow an open world! And then you figure out that once you complete a mission it's gonna take 20 mintues to get another one. Repeat that 50-100 times, enjoy!

Assassin's Creed: Wow look at the damn graphics and animation! Now have fun doing the same thing over and over again for the next 20 hours..

POP: Wow look at the cell shading! It's so magical, wow kinda like ICO or Shadow of Colossus..only not fun and insanely repetative with tons of backtracking!

They come sooo freakin close. All these games have good control and great production values, lots of great ambition and ideas..but they just fall flat. What gives?

I don't get it, why don't companies ever release DLC for the PC? DLC was CREATED on the PC, except, back then they called it an "expansion pack."

Lame. They need to announce this kind of shit BEFORE the game goes on sale, as it can have significant influence on the decision of which platform to buy a title for.

Failing that, it used to be that consoles were always denied new content or stuff, and PC users got all the goodies. Have the tables turned already?

I'm among those fracked by this. Serves me right for not pirating it in the first place, right?

For the record no one would give a damn if we were missing out on Horse Armor, but this is a an EPILOGUE!

@tgammet: Yeah, don't ya just love how they punish the ones who follow the rules, while the pirates are livin' the life with extra moolah?

I bought the game for PC instead of pirating it so this is a slap in the face.

All I can say is I won't be buying anymore Ubisoft titles, for business reasons of course.

Bad news for PC gamers who liked the game. It's going to be a pretty sizable addition. Rumor: it'll have its own trophies and achievements, will cost 800 MS Points ($10), and be around 650 megs of new game. Not bad for DLC.

So now people won't buy the PC version of the game because they want get extra content. Which means lower sales.

Which will of course mean that PIRACY is the only possible answer, because when a game tanks on PC, it's because everyone stole it.

This has only assured me one thing: I will not be buying Ubisoft games on PC. And since I am a PC gamer, I will not be buying Ubisoft games period. There are hundreds of good games coming out every year, I think I can make do without Ubisoft's B-grade catalog.

No one cares about your shitty over-produced mediocre games Ubi. I'll be glad if you never release another crappy port on PC again. I just hope you don't manage to fuck up BG&E2 now as well.
