Steam is the best DRM ever for a reason, it doesn't stop your damn games from working.

Wait it requires Steam and an internet connection? This makes me worry that there might be an online pass or DRM. Why does a game without any multiply or online element require an internet connection?

For some PC games, Steam is optional. For others, it's required. Steam is required for the PC. Likely Bethesda will use Steam to more easily deliver patches down the road, which is a good thing. Steam is DRM, you input the game's key so that it can be added to your Steam account and have access to it anywhere. There's no reason to assume there will be online passes or additional DRM methods on the PC or the consoles.

So is Skyrim only coming to PC on Steam? I wanted to getinto PC gaming with Skyrim but I wanted a booked version of it. I don't really have a grate internet connection so I didn't want to do it trough Steam.

Am I the only one that see the hypocrisy here? EA motions towards using Origin for game exclusivity and people are ready to start burning cars in the street (me included). Barely anyone here has batted an eye!

Steam is the best DRM and works, and if all developers just used that we wouldn't have to deal with all the other game ruining forms of DRM like Securom.

I just hope my dual 4770's can handle this on high, if not I'm gonna be mad. If I wasn't a poor university student I'd build a new computer already >_<
My 2 GTX 280s in SLI should definitely handle this then. Can't wait to max it out...until the ultra high tech mods come out. :)

the specs are pretty reasonable. i am so pumped for skyrim. now i just need to decide if i am going to buy the special edition at retail or digital download through steam. actually the 11th is a bank holiday so i dont have to work so retail copy it is then. powerful

Even if steam DRM is "better" than Origin DRM its still DRM. It's still doing its part to make the exception the norm. Being that its such a high profile game it will likely do much more to secure its (DRM) place in the gaming industry than say Assassins Creed 2.
It almost smacks of fanboy-ism. It's the same evil concept it ever was, yet because it's the industry darling Steam it's ok all of the sudden? Do you only have to access Steam once to register the game? Am I missing something?

DirectX 9 *recommended*? No Dx11 support? Really Bethesda?
The 6GB is no surprise whatsoever since they already announced they were chopping the hell out of the game to fit it on a single Xbox DVD.
