That info is per a Techland employee that was contacted via email.
Also, the authentication processes and servers were also revealed in the dev build, soooooo.....that's pretty bad.
Funnily enough, Borderlands PC was a complete wreck at launch, in a very similar manner.
But yea, I easily agree with your assessment - I was immediately turned off by the smoke and mirrors bait-and-switch trailer when people found out it was actually just a mindless Borderlands clone.
Hopefully when the real version of the game hits Steam, it will be vastly improved (beyond the 37 fixes in the "day one patch" which apparently don't fix any of the problems brought up by various reviews).
that its all obviously because of pirates and the game just needs some more DRM!
That may be true, but who buys PC games in retail stores anymore? I'm curious if anybody did that with Dead Island to offer a comparison.
Some people like physical copies of their games, console or PC. I only download games if they are ridiculously cheap, otherwise I always go with a boxed copy.
Although I didn't buy Dead Island retail die to Green Man's offer at the moment, I buy most PC games retail. Amazon is usually the cheapest way to buy PC games outside of sales, I don't have to use my bandwidth up and pre-orders often come before the official release, which is when digital download services graciously unlock the game. Simples!
When I loaded my save up I was at the lifeguard hut... and the quest was 'tutorial'.
I lol'd then deleted the save :P
Jeza: Pity you didn't read it after you saw.
"single player" game not a co-op mode game. the lag i think is caused by trying to connect to other people. i turned it off and the game has been running great
