About time hackers did something positive. Had I known they would do something this wonderful, I might have gotten it on PC XD.
Good for them, and I feel much better for my PC gamer friends now =)
Can we all agree that EA has monumentally fucked up what could have been an amazing game release? I mean this shit could have beaten MW3 if EA just stopped shooting themselves in the foot. And after all that shit talk.. wow.
Do you have a real stance on this issue, or do you just use the innuendo that "Company X had it coming from the pirates so good on em" to increase page impressions?
Is it every acceptable to pirate a game Jim? If so, what circumstances do you think justify theft and/or tampering with company-owned systems/networks?
It's more sad, I think, that DICE is partnering with EA at all. Without fucking shit like the online pass, EA having its own required account, and requiring DICE to use EAs shitty dedicated server platform...The launch could have been much smoother and reached more people.
EA fucked up the launch BIG TIME, and a fantastic game is paying the price for it.
Once again:
Fuck EA.
Fuck Origin.
This better not be used for piracy, if it is I'll take back my praise.
Destroy Games For Window Live next please!
2: if you think Jim Sterling toes the line re: piracy then you obviously are new here.
But the fact that legitimate customers are wanting a solution like this, should be sending EA a pretty clear message, although I am sure that they dont see it that way.
Cheaters, hackers, and thieves rejoice -- the rest of us honest players and consumers are having another game ruined for us. But go ahead and applaud them if you want.
That's exactly what I did yesterday. Downloaded the patch, and ran to the Gamestop across my apartment. Multiplayer with no-Origin.
But I'd like to get the SP no-Origin too. The patch I got was only for multiplayer.
can't find any? exactly this is for legit customers only
Also piracy exists on xb360 to good sir Jimmy
Agreed, but I'm guessing DICE needed EA to have any chance for a monumental launch that could compete with MW3. My guess (only a guess) is that EA picked up the tab on some of the advertising.
So it seems DICE is dammend if they do and damned if they don't.
A real shame cause this game (and the people who worked on it) deserve better.
Cognitive dissonance, here.
It's for people who actually bought the game to be able to play it without Origin; and hell, this makes me kinda want to buy a copy so I can get around the trojan horse that EA's trying to market.
When you force gamers to crack games they've ALREADY BOUGHT from you, you're doing something wrong.
Don't even trip with that 'its not for pirates' bullshit. Pirate Bay has several listings, with hundreds and hundreds of seeds for BF3 ISOs already bundled with this Origin hack.
I need to look around and see if there is a similar way to get rid of the Steam client. If I want to shop for games or look at ads then I'll do that when I want, not right before I want to play a game. I can't even exit the stupid thing without it freezing up.

5k Seeders
24k Leachers
But, of course nobody is using this hack to play pirated copies of the game.
You can't play online with this when you are not a customer.
piracy is piracy it's not freakin magic
This will be used for piracy, but that was going to happen anyway at exactly the same rate. This is at least presented in such a way that doesn't condone the piracy.
Except that it's not pirating, it's circumventing DRM.
I'm assuming you still need to use Battlelog, and, as such, you can't pirate it by using this.
Know your facts, and maybe you'd understand why PC gamers hate incompetent console gamers so much.
And all the coffee shop revolutionaries here supporting the hack just want to play single player. I'm not sure whether to be agape or to laugh myself silly.
If multiplayer doesn't work, what the fuck is the point of the hack? The near-universal consensus is that the campaign disc makes a better coaster than it does a game experience.
Not to mention it was released as INTERNAL, not that that ever stopped anyone from spreading it to P2P.
I sadly stopped playing PC games (BF2 did me in), for the most part, because of how easy it was to cheat and hack. Aim botters are the worst thing in the world.
Sure, Razor is a well-known pirate group, and I can't help but imagine their main goal was to distribute better and more accessible cracks, but this'll help actual customers too. Origin is, after all, fucking terribad.
Honestly, I'm pro-pirate in this case. While I like DICE (they tend to make quality games, regardless of my personal distaste for them), EA really needs to stop with the ball, chain, ankle bracelet and GPS-chip-inserted-into-the-neck business. Trying to prevent piracy often tends to make it happen more. See: Spore's piracy rate.
@pokota Last I checked, Steam doesn't force ads on you, besides possibly 'Steam Update News', and is a lot less intrusive than Origin. But, eh, opinions on quality are opinions. I prefer Steam because I trust Valve not to dick me around, unlike EA.
