PAX Prime 2010 pulled in 67,000 attendees photo

If you were at PAX Prime this year, you don't need me to tell you how successful the show was. Merely walking around the packed show floor -- or anywhere nearby downtown Seattle -- told you everything. You literally couldn't walk the streets at any time of the day (or night) without spotting a lanyard.

Such a cool feeling, huh? I suppose if you want to make it all official-like, you're going to want hard data. By Penny Arcade's count, the convention brought in 67,600 people. Compare that to last year's 60,750. We can probably expect to see even more off-site locales next year, if trends continue.

By the way, did anything ever come of that orgy? Was it a success? Inquiring minds need to know!

It's crazy, being one of almost 70,000 like-minded people descending on Seattle for a weekend. PAX is amazing.

I've covered PAX as a news photographer for the ABC station in Seattle since it's inception and I've loved watching it grow from and relatively small event in Bellevue to what it is today. As much fun as it is to run around with my camera and document the craziness, I've decided next year I'm taking the weekend off so I can take the time to stand in line and play some more games!

Not to be all selfish and shit but after all this if PAX East isn't a big deal I will feel incredibly cheated.

That said, it sounded like it was the jam. I'm really glad PAX has gotten this big. It's such a great way to just unite everyone in this industry. From spectators to the shakers and movers. Some of the stories I've heard are amazing. With the exception of comics I can't think of any entertainment industry that can just unite people like we do in the videogame industry. Music, film, they almost never do real face-to-face shit like this. It's amazing.

Whats crazy about that is that I never felt there were too many people there. It always felt like a good flow, even when waiting in that HUUUUGE Duke Nukem line. Seriously, I had to wait for like TEN MINUTES!!!!

I thought the orgy was cancelled due to lack of female/couple participation.

I tried to get some pictures of the crowds, but it just didn't turn out in terms of really getting a feeling for just how many people were there. It was actually quite incredible, but as someone else noted, it never felt "overcrowded". It was neat that everywhere you went in the downtown core that you saw PAX badges though!

I still think the PAX East official tally of 52,290 is short.
