A week?? I checked earlier this week and they didn't have tickets for sale yet. I heard they went live on Wednesday... so Thursday I checked and they were already sold out of 3 day and Saturday passes.
It's hard to travel for only Friday and Sunday passes so stupidly I held off - but saw that the scalpers are already hard at work making huge profits from 3 day passes and I simply won't pay those kind of markups!
I made it to PAX the past two years... but I guess this year I'm not going. :(
Ah well... I suspect I'll need surgery this year again anyway, so even if I did get tickets I might not have been able to go. :(

I managed to get mine, though I had to settle with getting three 1-day passes. That means $40 I won't be able to spend on booze, but I'll take what I can get, I guess.
When/where do they announce in advance when they start selling tickets? I've been checking since the beginning of the year!!! So frustrating!
Yeah, I feel really bad that people who want to go won't be able to. I wonder what caused the huge spike in interest between this year and last year.
The passes were on sale very briefly a week ago before everything crapped out and they went back on sale Wednesday. They sold out in two days, not a week.
I have gone to PAX every year since 2008. BUT I WAS NEVER TOLD REGISTRATION WAS OPENED! THIS IS BS! EVERY GAMING NEWS SITE HAS FAILED ME!!! ONE WEEK, WTF!!!!!!!
"Wrangle a scalper"? I'd be much more apt to STRANGLE a scalper. They're all fucking leeches. And if you're a scalper, you're part of the problem and need to be shot.

The moment I saw the three-day passes sold out, I made like a tree and bought the Saturday and Sunday passes. Lo and behold, everything was sold out the next day. I caught a lucky break, but I really feel for you guys who can't make it. Penny Arcade really should have thought this out, IMO. The situation just gets worse and worse every year it seems.
Man, I kinda feel bad that I got my three-day pass. Here's hoping that some of you will get to go to PAX.

I think the crash of last week made a lot of the people who knew become more paranoid and ready to get them, while it also most likely made a big $ sign to scalpers.

It makes me so sad to already see passes up on ebay people bought tons just to sell =( wish they could do something to stop that

What they should do.. they should make tickets ONLY AVAILABLE through them. Non-transferable like. Which means if you want to sell your ticket to someone else, you return the tickets to them for a refund and then they resell the ticket and voila, no more scalper assholes.
A week? Try A DAY. I'm blaming the false start that had everyone wary and nervous to jump on the passes once they went on sale for good on Wednesday, sold out of three-days five hours later, and the rest of the passes 24 hours later.
I agree with others that there should be some way to stop the scalpers. momomo66 has a good idea... make the passes tied to a specific person so that scalping is much more difficult.
Alternatively, they could limit the number of passes purchases to 4 passes per credit card/payment method.

They've got the amount of passes you can buy capped at 5 per person, though, i know Khoo tweeted that the average number of tickets sold was 1.74 per transaction, so they think that the vast majority of them are legit and not to be scalped.

Great to hear the PA guys show that once again they don't actually care about the people that go to their expo, which is supposedly for their fans, and only care about profits.

Don't worry Elsa, Sony didn't support pax east this year at all so I bet it'll be similar with prime. You'd be miserable amongst all the pax love from major Nelson et al. Good luck with the surgeries.
Penny Arcade has to raise price for PAX it is just that simple. Some fans may hate it and claim they are selling out but it needs to happen. I see far to many badges up for sale on E-bay. Many times at PAX and PAX East you will see people scalper or trying to give away their passes.
Print your damn real name on the badge and force to show ID. Scalper problem solved.
^ This would solve a lot of problem, but there is still the problem in people getting rid of their badges they no longer need. The price increase should help with that and with the needing a badge under your name should make sure people get badges that they know they will use.

The only thing that sucks is I forgot to get my BYOC pass, and when passes went back up, they sold out immediately.

I think they do need to do something about the scalpers because it's getting out of control, I saw a ton of ebay and craigslist posts for people selling a $65 3-day pass for $250 or more, that's just stupid. I personally am not paying that much for tickets to anything. If it takes having names printed on the passes or forcing everyone to pick them up and show id then that's what it takes but I cannot believe that all of those tickets went to people who are actually planning on going. Even if one pass does go to the person selling the others I guarantee that a bunch of scalpers just bought multiples to sell.
