From the time I first saw Back to the Future, I have wanted a DeLorean. Completely impractical (from a maintenance/financial standpoint) and completely awesome, it's pretty much the coolest car ever designed. Except, of course, for a DeLorean which has been converted into a time machine.

At PAX today, I had the opportunity to sit inside a replica of Doctor Emmett Brown's DeLorean and talk with Dennis Lenart of Telltale Games about their upcoming Back to the Future episodic game series. You can see what happened in the video above.

Right now, I can't even begin to imagine how my career as a blogger could get any better. I'm honestly a little worried that I've peaked and it's all downhill from here. Thank God I have this video, which will probably be running on a loop in my home for the remainder of my natural life.

Why does it seem like PAX is only cool for the people who are in attendance? D:

You're putting the "man" in Zimmerman with your DeLorean rulebreaking!

DO WANT! I can't wait to play this. Hopefully the game lives up to the BTTF legacy.

Yeah, dude, you're going to need to shove that mic right up those motherfuckers' noses, awkward as that might be. Really hard to hear, as it is. DeLoreans are always boss, though.

I'm ACTUALLY getting excited for this. Let's hope with better technology comes less heartbreak.

Yeah, we could have fixed that in post-production, but we thought you guys might actually like to watch. Our bad, I guess.

There is a company in Houston that makes brand new Deloreans from parts never used at the old DMC factory in N. Ireland. Low 40 grand for a brand new Delorean.

My neighbor owns a DMC-12. He keeps it garaged mostly.

It's not as bad a car as most people think it is.

You can still buy them new from the factory, owned by chrystler now, for $20,000.
For $40,000 they'll update everything to modern standards and supercharge the engine.

Drift King's right. Time Machine Delorean = awesome. Regular Delorean = heavy piece of slow shit.

Has anyone told you that you bear a strong resemblance to Mac from Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia?

@ Brian

Actually, the true problem relies in the engine and handling.

The U.S. safety reg. dumbed down the engine performance due to emissions. The car's height was actually increased as well to comply with safety rules, thus affecting handling.

Weak(er) engine + poor(er) handling = heavy handling and slower accel. due to a lower power to weight ratio. Which in turn makes the car FEEL heavy.

At about 1250kg, it's not really heavy at all (common misconception).

You know what sucks? I am 6 and 1/2 feet tall and I would never fit in a Delorean. Which is unfortunate because there's one for sale less than 5 miles from my house (or was, rather).

My best friend of about fifteen years has had a DeLorean for about five or six years. It was something he wanted since he saw Back To The Future. But the one thing he didn't want to do to it was make it look like Doc's D... Less than two years after owning it, his work had a 80s retro-themed corporate party. He ended up caving in to their pressure and made the car... He hated the idea at first, but ended up loving it when he got done. He's a stickler for detail, so, needless to say, it looked ridiculously good, and blew everyone away. But he's never done it since. It's a pretty sweet ride until the AC gives out... Then it's like riding in a hot coffin.

@Syn: Actually, my best friend is about the same height, and fits in his just fine. The gull wing doors make it that much easier. Now a Lotus Esprit... Different story.

Too bad the owner of the car was a massive asshole. Whatever Telltale paid him to appear there, they paid too much. All he had to do was to put a goddamn sign there saying not to touch the fucking car, or at least to not be such a cock when people did.

Very awesome for you though. :)

I now know what Conrad looks like, but I do not know what genre this game is. I'm leaning heavily on the "adventure game" arm here, and that branch of gaming is no longer relevant to my palate.
