Hydrophobia, the episodic XBLA game from Dark Energy, got its first ever trailer today, and we really like what we see. Although totally different in terms of gameplay, Hydrophobia appears to continue the work started by last year's Shadow Complex -- providing a game with retail production values and something a little deeper than the usual downloadable efforts.
We have to say that it looks great so far. Could well rival last year's hit XBLA game too, especially if it keeps up the graphical quality. As well as the video, we have fresh screens and concept art as well, so check those out. Anybody else as excited for this as we are?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
This thing doesn't look that special either (probably why Jim likes it) and this guy's fake accent is horrendous. It sounds like he's trying to do an Italian mob boss doing a Russian accent.
Shadow Complex was never about the writing. It was about the exploration. The games Jim trashes for poor writing -- Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy XIII, etc. -- are story-driven games, where the writing actually affects the game when it sucks.
Nobody complains about Castlevania's or Metroid's writing either, even though they're far from stellar. Why? Because it doesn't matter for those kinds of games.
Looks very cool.
Now the thing that worries me is that this guy made the rather dubious decision to share part of his business model with us, namely that they'd be releasing the game in 3 hour (ish) chunks for something like 15USD a pop. Ouch. Depending on how good you are at games, that's getting pretty close to paying the game minimum wage.
Granted, this is -entirely- speculation on my part.
@falinter: have you heard of Fable 2?
Will definitely give the trial a go, and will purchase if it lives up to the quality we see indicated in the trailer.
