Texas would be ideal, IMO. Why the backward country of Australia, though!? Unless this is an attempt to draw attention to the dumb legislation that prevents many games from even releasing, then it seems like a waste. =/

...honestly, I was just hoping for a move to a bigger venue to accommodate having more people. As it stands, I think PAX is going to be even harder to get into next year. :(

Why in the hell would they be going to Australia instead of Europe? You can't tell me there are more gamers that will attend in Australia than in the whole of Europe.

@Arttemis - Dude, they have an 18+ rating for games in Australia now. So not only are you a spoiled child who wants to keep a third PAX in the US (as opposed to Europe or Aus), you fail to keep up on current events. Congrats.

Das - Calm down. Considering the land area of contiguous USA rivals that of western Europe, having the convention in a central state makes more sense than two at the polar opposite edges. Also, I never suggested that Europe couldn't get additional PAXs, just that Australia consistently makes head lines for outright rejecting games, and it's still happening despite the 18+ rating, if Transformers is any indication. Considering that these sell out like crazy, I don't see why they can't throw conventions in more than 3 locations across several continents, and I never suggested that they should all stay in the US - just that, like you, I think Australia is an odd choice. Congrats for jumping to conclusions and inferring shit I didn't say, 'dude'.

Transformers isn't any indication of anything to do with what you're talking about. The publisher couldn't be bothered with a physical release for the PC. The only thing that indicates is that Australian PC gamers have shown a clear preference for digital releases and a physical release isn't worth it for many publishers. You know the game is still out in PC in Aus right? You just buy it from a digital service.

Very few games have ever been banned in Aus and the system responsible for it is now gone.

Good for you Australia. After all the issues you have had with getting uncut games, you deserve this.

Now mind you, I would have liked to see a 3rd US PAX (which is rumored to still be coming). But this is a better move, as would be any International PAX.

PAX Australia on the Gold Coast. I think that's the only chance that Queensland would have hosting one. Probably Melb or Syd, but one can hope!

For those insinuating that us Americans are greedy for wanting a 3rd US PAX, I don't think y'all quite realize just how BIG the USA is. To give you an idea, it is almost 3,100 miles between Seattle and Boston, the homes of the two current PAXes. PAXPrime and PAXEast are on both northern corners of the US (nortwest and northeast respectively). I live in Austin, Texas. The distance from Austin to Seattle is over 2,000 miles and from Austin to Boston is over 1,900 miles. I can't afford to fly that far and stay in a hotel for 3 (now 4) nights. Austin (and Texas in general) is also home to numerous videogame developers, so it would make a lot of sense to have a convention down here. Don't get me wrong, I am happy that the gaming community in Australia has something to celebrate, and I understand that Penny Arcade wants to include their international fans, but I'm just upset and a little confused that they would leave out a very large portion of their national fanbase before going overseas.

I can see a EU PAX in the future. making PAX prime a four day event works out because it's during a 3 three day weekend.

I've been wanting to go back to Australia for years now! As good an excuse as any, really.

@djnealb: You realise how big the rest of the word is right? Traveling inside the same country, even if a big one like America or Australia is far more affordable and hassle free than international travel.

True nocking. It's not that bad for those of us near the Border (like me) but I think they'd be better off fixing the issues with where it's held, and it's schedules... Expo floor closing at 6? why the hell does it do that?

Every single panel only seats maybe 300 people? at a con that has 35k? sooo you have to line up a few hours before the panel you want, which means you cannot attend any other panel unless it's a few hours AFTER the one you just got out of... your lucky to hit 2 or 3 panels.... I dunno... it was my first PAX, and I ususally go to Comic / Anime conventions that have as many, if not more people... I think they should extend the hours for both panels and expo floor first, then find a larger venue (so you can at least seat more people for the pretty awesome panels) THEN worry about adding a 4th day... Some merch vendors would be awesome too...
