The boys of The Mega Man Network were able to visit the Capcom booth at PAX and grill the rep for any new details on Mega Man Universe. There was no demo on hand, sadly, but they were able to glean a couple of clues as to what to expect.
As we saw in the new trailers, three different Mega Men are playable, but they aren't merely clones of one another. There are slight control tweaks from one to the next (e.g. Bad Box Art Mega Man can only fire two shots at a time instead of the typical three). The final roster is suggested to be massive, featuring stars from other Capcom titles like Ryu and possibly more Mega Man variations.
Speaking of variations, the slender new Mega Man model with the angry Kirby eyes was designed by Masafumi Kimoto, the designer who worked on Mega Man Legends. I guess I can kinda see the relation -- the slender build and torso lines remind me a bit of the angled art style of Legends.
A stage editor is pretty much a lock, and despite what the trailers implied, assets from games other than Mega Man 2 will be included. As for why the game isn't coming to WiiWare? Size limits, of course. More news will be available come TGS in two weeks; if all goes according to plan, Mega Man Universe should drop on PSN and XBLA in Spring 2011.

I'm so in.
But what kind of game is this? Will we be able to share levels ala LBP?
I take it you missed Powered Up.
I can't wait to see all the characters' individual abilities and the Map Editor. I hope Sigma is in there somewhere.
Calm the fuck down, this is MMU not MVC3. One melee character is enough, this STILL is a a classic megaman styled game.
As far as universe goes: I'll pick this up if for no other reason than the stage editor has so much potential to be amazing.
On a more article-related note, I was pretty surprised by the backlash on Mega's new model. To me it looks like a successful polygon recreation of 8-bit Megaman.
Nike company has held a ¡°Nike 78 ¡°activities. They request artists in Nike air shox sports as the prototype, the various functional challenge for the new shoes design inspiration . The large-scale activity ,invited 78 artists to be engaged in the reconstruction action. Nick Marsh had idea on the Wii balance board.
Installing sensors in the shoes, the shoes can also be a Wii balance board itself. Then you can begin jumping up and down .As met the instructions that can not trample on the board, you should leave your feet in the air. You¡¯ll be busier than the original balance board. And wearing on the Nike shoes , you¡¯ll feel much more comfortable. You can just have a try. It is funny!
The "Rockman" model is a better polygonal recreation of 8-bit Mega Man. He also seemed a little chubby in the old games. The new "Mega Man" looks like a blue Slim Jim.
Keep in mind, I'm partially talking about the über-chibi style, but the backgrounds and the general approach both were quite boring as well. It felt like all the stages were built with the stage editor...
Sure... But this isn't an HD remix of MM2! Its a level editor, a big big roster of customer characters with conceivably special moves... and that's just what we know so far.
No details about bosses. I really think that's going to blow our minds (I hope anyway) and the size limits
Sad face.
Bad, Nintendo, bad. You and your limitations.
