The Maw and 'Splosion Man developer Twisted Pixel Games announced its next downloadable title -- the studios’ third original IP -- at PAX earlier this afternoon. It’s called Comic Jumper and you can get your first look at the title in the teaser trailer above.

As you’ll notice, the teaser is a true teaser -- nothing substantial is revealed. But we can draw a couple of things from the footage, its narration, and from Twisted Pixel’s comments at PAX. The game stars two protagonists -- who hate each other, apparently -- in one muscled shell. A hero named Smiley Face dominates the body, while the cute and prickly Star lives on his chest.

As the trailer says, players will be able to run, jump and shoot across different comic book-inspired levels. As Joystiq mentions, there’s a possibility that the gameplay may change as the books do. We are told in the video that this is “an experience unlike any other.” We don’t think simple side-scrolling fits the bill.

Comic Jumper
doesn’t have a release date, platform or price.

If they do it I'll buy it. Also let me go on the record by saying: "This is one of the coolest trailers I've ever seen".

The idea and the humor seems even better than Splosion Man. As long as Twisted Pixel doesn't have a collective stroke sometime during production, this is going to be awesome.

This might be a bit too obscure but the main hero reminded me of Specimen Yarp from 'Kenny vs Spenny". It was the episode where they compete to see who is the better wrestler. Good stuff.

I could have sworn that I heard the voice of Star somewhere before.

I'm getting a small Earthworm Jim and Comix Zone vibe from the preview, and the humor is pretty top notch. Twisted Pixel is certainly going places.

Twisted Pixel is quickly becoming my favorite downloadable game company. They're just so spot on with so many elements in their games, ideas, humor, etc.

Yeah, uh, that was pretty much the greatest trailer for anything ever. But I have no idea what it's about. I need to hunt these guys down at PAX and find out WTF.
