Don’t sleep on Klei Entertainment’s
Shank. It’s a 2D downloadable action title -- the platform hasn’t been announced, but it seems to be at least Xbox LIVE Arcade-bound -- with an artistic flair and a decent amount of violence. The game is being shown on the PAX floor through this weekend; so naturally, the studio has released a teaser.
Like most teasers -- more so than
Comic Jumper, talk about foot in mouth -- this video doesn’t reveal much detail about the title. The
studio’s Web site describes it as, simply, as an “action slash adventure” game built with “amazing control, great animation, immersive environment, and everything else that we feel like, and none of the stuff we don’t.”
Sounds great, but it only does as long as Klei doesn’t include camels in the title. Those humped monsters can spit and it’s
straight disgusting when they do. No camels, please. (Substitute them with helicopters, if possible.)
Combat needs to be a little tighter and there needs to be more in the way of air juggling combos... But this is a definite buy. Assuming it comes to a platform I have, which is mostly just not-XBLA only.
Seeing how Eets made it to Steam, I really hope, if Shank doesn't come to PSN in the end, it at least goes there.
Also, the demo was played on a 360. So it's pretty safe to say it will come out on the XBLA.
