Patches coming for all versions of Fallout 3, fixes unknown photo

A Bethesda community manager recently revealed that the company is actively working on a patch for all three versions of Fallout 3. His statement, framed as a response on Bethesda’s official message board, was quite vague.

He told users, “We [Bethesda] are currently working on a patch for all three platforms. When I’ve got more details, I’ll let everyone know.” That means all of you sitting on a pile of pre-war books and Nuka-Colas that won’t count for mission goals are going to have to wait a bit longer. The same goes for all of you PlayStation 3 owners who may not enjoy some of the problems that you’re having specific to your platform.

If you’re not having any problems thus far, rejoice, but know that this patch won’t be able to solve a problem that our very own Conrad has with the game. After 100 hours of play, he points out that the ending could use a bit of fixing.

Have many of you experienced a problem? What would you like to see a patch handle?

If only there was a patch that could take the accumulated hype of EVERY get that's ever disappointed someone and turn it into a game.

I'm glad to hear this, I was just wondering about plans for a patch.

The random freezing on the 360 version is my main concern. It's happened to me three times in just under 25 hours of play, so that was a little disheartening. I installed the game to my HD last night, so maybe that will be a possible solution.

the only problem i've had so far is with the fast travel. Occassionally I would fast travel, it would load then the screen would go black.

My Xbox would still be on and everything just with no picture.

This makes me a happy girl. I put 70 hours into my game, only to have it freeze every time on the last damn mission in the exact same spot. Maybe after the patch, I'll get to see the crappy ending everybody's been talking about.

This story, in conjunction with the header caption, just put a huge smile on my face.

PS3 Fallout here. Luckily I haven't run into any of the major bugs I've seen reported on the BethSoft forums. Only one hard crash so far in about 23 hours of play. Most people are attributing crash issues to their save game files. My only recommendation is save often and in many different slots.

Two glitches that might be fixed deal with Speech and Sandman. The speech glitch is in Big Town. After talking to Bittercup about her relationships, using a successful speech option on Pappy does not go away, forever rewarding XP. The sandman glitch is in Andale in the Smith House. Also rewards inf. XP

There.. aren't any PS3-only bugs, far as I know, and I've done research - pretty much every known bug appears on all 3 platforms :o

Just getting that out.

There's a bug after I saved some people from Super Mutants in Big Town and completed the quest, they wanted me to fix some robots (an optional choice really) to help protect them in the future. Well, there are no robots in their junkyard.

Now all the town does is stand by the junkyard and say "Are you going to fix the robots?" "He's going to show us how to fix the robots!" Over and over.

It's kinda creepy.

I haven't had any major issues, thankfully. The biggest one that I want to have addressed is the radio stuttering. I've tried every solution posted on the forums, it hasn't fixed squat.

@AudioTerror:

I had that same problem, but I loaded an older save file and instead chose to tell them I'll kill the mutants for them. 4 mutants show up. Just kill them and all it well.

Moral to the story. Save often and in many different slots.

One problem i had was my game would freeze on the last mission when i went ahead of Liberty Prime crossing the first small bridge, but i just waited for LP to cross first and get a little ahead and i got through. Lucky Me!

PC version was unplayable out of the box for me, I had to mess with some .ini files just to get the game running for more than 5 minutes without crashing. It still crashes a lot so with a patch I might actually get to play the game.

I've had no major glitches so far and I completed it yesterday (PC version).

However, all the food I have or pick up is now listed as giving "+0 rads" even though I still get the normal rad poisoning from it. It seemed to start about 4 quests from the end and I haven't tried re-loading a save from before that to see if it'll fix it, but its a pretty minor glitch.

I want to use my damn Railspike Gun. Every single time I used it when I had to reload my game froze. Quite disheartening after I enjoyed the rest of the game.

i have the PC version, and the only issues i have are the semi-frequent crashes (1 or so every 2 hrs) and if i try to alt-tab out i have to have another app to tab into otherwise it will crash, other than those performance issues, theres also some issues with in-game skins....does anyone else see these lo-res textures wrapped, 1 1/2 feet away from the wall, around the outside of a building, which you can run through...the only example i can think of would be in the area with all of the museums, the one which is the furthest east has one such texture....other than that im having fun

The only issue I've noticed is some characters referring to my male character as a girl, maybe this is just a personal problem of mine in the game. But the one thing that really bugs me is I'll be exploring an area and i'll jump and get stuck in a spot, that really bothers me. The I either have to quick travel or restart, big pain in the a-- really.

Sadly, I wish I had the forsight to make multiple saves. I didn't (afterwards I did)

Another bad issue I've had with the PS3 version is with the friends list. Everytime I have a friend log on or off the game will freeze for 5 seconds. Does that happen to anyone else?

I finished one play through of 60 hours on the 360 and the only issue I experienced was a single freeze. I love Fallout 3...Ready for round 2.

First time I installed it - it didn't work at all. The menu loaded, but everytime I clicked on NEW GAME it crashed. Nothing really worked - I did everything on the forums - I checked all my codecs, I deleted DAEMON tools, I reinstalled it - everything, and it still crashed.

I was so fed up and I was dying to play the game (it cost 100 dollars here in Australia) and I didn't want to have wasted my money, so I formatted my computer. After that, the game worked absolutely fine, all settings turned up to maximum. So if anyone has any problems starting the game, I recommend completely formatting your computer, that is, if you can be bothered going through all that backup stuff and re-installing windows.

Oh, and some other quips - the game doesn't work exactly perfectly. Alt-Tabbing seems to cause it to crash, as well as turning off my screen - I have no idea why that makes it crash, seriously, I turn off my screen or put it in standby, and INSTANTLY the game will crash when I turn my monitor on. Weird.

Patch needs to fix:

- the freezing. Sometimes i can play for hours, sometimes i can play for 5 min, and it freezes. Once, i loaded a game after it froze and it had frozen again after 30 seconds.

- Make the dog incorporeal. Sometimes hes nearly too frustrating to have around, hes just always in the way. Heck, sometimes its actually bad, not just annoying(prevents you dodging/escaping, or even gets you stuck; i found a place you cant get out of if he follows you in).

I'm just glad I haven't had any of these bugs yet.

Actually, the only buggy game I think I've ever had problems with was Force Unleashed.

...but there wasn't a single thing right with that game, so I'm not really complaining.

Glad for all the people subject to the bugs that they'll get their fix one day.

i completed the game in just over 45 hours and only had 2 or 3 bugs really. the only one that really annoyed me was getting the declaration of independance from that stupid robot! as i had already found the ink he wanted and he wouldnt accept that i was carrying it - in the end all i has to do was walk out and then back in again - other than that i really enjoyed the game - g
