Patapon 2 marches down the line photo

The PSP rhythm-action title Patapon ate countless hours of my life when it was released earlier this year. Half the time I didn't know what the hell I was doing, but I couldn't put it down. Now I'm preparing to lose even more hours of my life to the newly announced Patapon 2.

Famitsu surprised readers this month with the announcement of this sequel, according to PSPWorld. This news was included in the magazine's spread on Loco Roco 2. Both games are being developed by Pyramid and produced by Japan Studios, just like their predecessors.

Unfortunately that's all the details we have. I'm sure some Famitsu scans will pop up sooner or later.

Did you like the first Patapon? Would you be interested in a sequel?

I had the chance to play the first one on a friend's PSP and I tought that while the concept itself was quite random, the gameplay makes it a Full-win game.

So, If I'm going to buy a PSP soon this will be on my "time-to-shop" list.

That picture rocks, I'm still going through the original, though I don't play it that much these days.

I'm completely stoked about Patapon 2! I still play the original every so often to this day and I can't wait for some more Patapon goodness!

awesome image, I've still got to give the first patapon a try... I loved LocoRoco so I'll be looking forward for the next iteration of that as well :-)

Yes please, I would love to get my hands on those games. We have the .iso for the game, can't anything be done?

Patapon 300?! If only it were true. :)

I'm so excited about this. The ending of the original Patapon hinted at a sequel but I didn't think it would come to fruition. It's nice to see how wrong I am.

I'm looking forward to Patapwning the next set of enemies into oblivion. :D

I suppose the biggest question is... will Jim Sterling be writing the Destructoid review for it? ;)

I hope they release the sequel for $20 too and not jack up the price with every subsequent sequel like they did with Katamari.

I like the idea of it being on the PSN! Have other PSP games that have made it onto PSN been upscaled or do they have the same res but on the bigger TV? That game would look gorgeous on an HDTV.

I'll go back to fantasizing over here...

@ Naia

NO. NO PSN! For god's sake, enough with the goddamn digital distribution! Some people don't -LIKE- worrying about sticking crap on their memory sticks that they could have just gotten on UMD, but instead takes up a good 300MB-1GB of space. -_-

Not to mention the collector's value, secondhand market...For the love of god, why would you remotely want this released through PSN?!

A friend of mine brought the first Patapon to work one day. I am the only person he knows who failed the first (training) mission.

I do like the game, but man do I suck at it.

An alternative PSN port would be great fun, methinks. Maybe not solely on the PSN for all the disc-huggers, but an upscaled Patapon would be quite nice.
