Party with Claptrap at the Borderlands Extravasplosion photo

So, Borderlands is a pretty big deal. The fact that its release is soon (next Tuesday) is probably an even bigger deal. Gearbox Software is getting ready to celebrate, and if you happen to be a Texan, you can join in too.

On Saturday, they'll be throwing a Borderlands Extravasplosion at the Granada Theatre in Dallas. You can read all about it if you have any intention of going -- make sure to RSVP. The flier says Mix Master Mike of the Beastie Boys will be in attendance, which should make for a fun time.

It's times like these that make me wish I still lived in Dallas.

I'm confused about something. Does the game actually get released on the 20th, or is that just when it's shipping to stores? I preordered through GameStop back in April, so I'm just trying to figure out if I can pick it up on Tuesday, or if I have to wait until Wednesday.

@ZeroTolo

Depends on your GameStop. Most of the stores get it on the 20th, but for some reason, other stores get it on the 21st. Since it's a major title, the game should be there on the 20th. They usually call you the day before it's release... well now they just txt you.

Oh and I live in Texas, and was close to signing up but I dunno I'll wait for the anticipation for the game next week to kill me so I can enjoy it more when I pick it up.

The release for this game couldn't come at a more perfect time for me. Midterms are just ending, a week off for fall break... perfect!

Granted, I'm nowhere near Texas, so this exact article isn't exactly "relevant" per se...

I'm on a very skinny fence about this one. Don't know which way I'm going to fall yet. Looks like this will be one of the few games where reviews may actually sway my opinion.

Same here. It's such perfect timing to have the game come out after midterms. Doing nothing but school work as made me even more excited for the game because I long for a nice break from it all.

Of course, I have to wait until the 26th, because PC is a bastard child.

Oh well.

As much as I LOVE the work done by Gearbox, I'm hoping this release party works differently than the last one I attended (for Samba de Amigo & Brothers in Arms Hell Highway) where most of the games & cool celebration area was VIP only so my friend & I who were there as general attendance ppl were stuck in the non-VIP part of the club with a bar while game trailers played on the monitors overhead.

My brother lives right outside of Dallas in Greenville, I really miss Texas. I wish I knew things like this more in advance.

I'll be getting it at Walmart around 12am on the 20th. The latenight stocker in the game dept. usually has the box open and waiting for people to beg for copies. Walmart employees > Gamestop employees.
