This is great! I was just having a nerd discussion the other day with friends on how we would sooo "do" Aya from Parasite Eve. Who knows. Maybe whoever is in charge of re-releasing PS1 games on the PS3/PSP as Game Archive titles would sooo do her too. Maybe that's why there's a rumored release of Parasite Eve on the PlayStation Store.
Before we play Hot or Not with female game leads, know that creative producer Tetsuya Nomura has been pushing for its re-release. He told fans on Twitter: "Regarding PE1 and 2 on Game Archives, we're currently looking into it, so please wait a bit more."
He's pushing because the series' third game, The 3rd Birthday, is just around the corner. Comparing the new title to the original two, Nomura says that the settings and time frame are the same, but in terms of the story, it's all new with this third one.
And speaking of The 3rd Birthday, wouldn't you sooo do the new version of Aya, as seen above?
While I'm thinking about it, I'd like to thank Square Enix for the steady stream of PS1 titles on the PSN. Keep 'em coming!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Wish the third was on a console, but what can ya do.
The first one fantastic. Second meh.
second one i dont mind either way but the 1st was a classic from a time when square werent afraid to try new things. oh square get rid of the enix and come back to us lol while your at it release einhander and brave fencer musashi... and chocobo racing XD
Liked the first one, but the sequel was a mess.
And whatever you are thinking, yes, that is what I mean.
Nomura, slip her into DISSIDIA 2, wouldja?
I was thinking about whether or not it was worth it to buy a used copy on Amazon or seeing how much it would be on Goozex.
If it goes up on PSN I'm down to down...load.
As @shindubhe said, Brave Fencer Musashi (which I still have too) Einhander and Chocobo Racing....aaaand why not Ehrgeiz?
I'm ashamed as well. :(
A) I've been hoping they'd re-release those games on PSN for ages.
B) I had no idea the 3rd Birthday was even a thing. Double awesome sauce on a serving of hell yeah.
C) I recommend reading the original Parasite Eve novel, too! Bears no relation to the story in the game, but is a pretty cool little horror novel.
Oh and... why the fuck when Aya is brought up the conversation goes into "i'd hit her" direction :\
This is why, Klarden. :)
I haven't played either of these in the 5+ years I've owned them. I think I have more than 20 titles in that pile...and 3rd Birthday's looking like another candidate (just like Squares DS KH game. c_C)
@Mook
I totally agree. I had no idea what mitocondria was until I played this game, which proves that with clever writing, you can also teach gamers something. PE is one of Square's swansongs, from a time when they were much more adventurous. Oh, how I miss those days.
Never bothered with PE2, after hearing it was a bit 'meh'. Looks like my PSN account might actually get a sale, as I'd dump PE onto my PSP.
Next stop hopefully Xenogears and Vagrant Story too.
heh, nice point.
@ hpv
there's nothing like PE2 as well, both games are pretty unique. I consider the first one to be the first "cinematic RPG", something we are quite familiar nowadays. And the second was a brilliant mix of RPG tactics and Survival Horror gameplay. 3d Birthday looks like it's also going to be something completely different.
Oh, and Parasite Eve on my PS3 would be cool too.
I think it's awesome that old PlayStation games can be purchased on the PSN. I just wish there was some way for me to get a download copy at zero or minimal cost for those of us that already own the game.
Also, SONY NEEDS TO GET OFF THEIR ASS AND RELEASE MORE PS1 CLASSICS.
As for PS Classics on PSN...
Where is Vandal Hearts 1 & 2? They should have been released around the same time as the PSN 'sequel'!
The first one is fairly cheap, but I'll be damned if I pay what the second one is worth.
