PaRappa The Rapper returns for the PSP photo

One of my all-time favorite PlayStation games, PaRappa The Rapper, is making a comeback ... yes. I've actually asked for it on a few occasions, so it's good someone is listening. You see, Sony announced today that the original PaRappa The Rapper is coming to the PlayStation Portable in July. Maybe this PSP won't go away after all:

Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. (SCEA) announced today the North American release of PaRappa The Rapper(TM), an iconic character-based music and hip-hop game, available in July 2007 for PSP(R) (PlayStation(R)Portable). Developed by Sony Computer Entertainment, in association with legendary multimedia musician Masaya Matsuura and famed New York artist Rodney Greenblat, the PaRappa The Rapper franchise debuted 10 years ago on the original PlayStation(R) and is widely credited with establishing the music and rhythm game genre that continues to thrive today.  PaRappa The Rapper for the PSP system mobilizes PaRappa's hip-hop adventures and builds on the success of this iconic franchise.

Featuring all the characters, levels and songs from the original, PaRappa The Rapper increases the franchise's social appeal by offering a host of new PSP exclusive features, including the ability for up to four PSP systems to go head-to-head in ad-hoc battles; wirelessly share a demo level through Game Share; and use the PSP Infrastructure Mode to download eight additional playable remixes for players to rap along to.

Yeah, it may be an ancient port, but damn, it's a classic port that I'm sure none of us would complain to have on a portable system just dying for a good library of titles.

The PSP is becoming a haven for all the great PSone and 2 games. First Gitaroo man, then this, I think I may actually have to buy a PSP now.

Great game, but this is why the PSP is utterly pointless, it does nothing that a home console can't do already, all these ports will ba available one way or other with the PS3.

All Sony have done with the PSP is take a home console, turn it into an outdoor outside and charged us more for the privelage of playing home console games oudoors. Great game but pointless PSP addition.

With this, dj max, and gitaroo man, the psp is turning into a pretty good rhythm game platform.

-> zardoz: It's not just taking home platforms and making them work outdoors. For one thing, it won't work outdoors when it's sunny, because the screen isn't really bright enough, also home consoles usually have half way decent controllers, and don't have horribly shitty battery lives.

Good thing you didn't typo and leave out one of the "p"s in "Rapper." This post could've been real awkward real quick.

I would be all about this and a port of UmJammer Lammy. Just drop in price a little bit more PSP, so I can't resist any longer.
