i have to admit, i'm disappointed with this game a little. it's a perfect franchise to sell people on 3DS and 3D especially given the fact that Nintendo was showing off tech demo that immediately made me think about Paper Mario.
standard 2d gameplay would be "normal" without 3D and when switching to 3D, the depth of the level would be presented in 3D - at least include ability to play the game like this, nintendo. you've already missed an opportunity with AR cards(hoped they would include cards in every game) - don't miss this one.

Hope this is more like the 64 version which I loved and not like the wii one which I couldn't even finish
Paper Mario being my favourite franchise, I've been waiting for a portable entry for years. When this got announced, yeah, I made some drugged monkey noises myself. Simply looks fantastic and can not wait for this one. ^^

yeah, nintendo had tech demo on E3 that was showing cat on the stick. it was completely in 2D, but when you switched 3D ON, the whole thing would change. in 3D it was showing depth of the level with holes in it(that weren't visible in normal mode since it was 2D) and you had to avoid those holes to get to the end of the level.

As awesome as that would be, I think the problem is that Nintendo won't(and can't really) use any features that require 3D as some people can't see it.

If it's half as good as PMTTYD it would be twice as good as SPM. This game is the reason i bought a 3DS.

I find the lack of partners in these images disturbing. Hopefully Intelligent Systems is just keeping them in reserve for later.
The best part about a new paper mario for 3ds? It's a NEW paper mario for 3ds! it's always great to see whenever the 3DS gets a new game, as opposed to an old one.
Looks like this is going back to the old N64/Gamecube Paper Mario style (RPG with platforming elements) rather than the Wii one (Platformer with RPG elements).

I wish they'd get up to speed and announce a (3)DS/i player for the Wii like the Gamecube and SNES, never understood why there was no mention of one. No LSD howlin orgies until I see more of that Chain Chomp or a Bullet Bill.

This is so similar to my reaction It's scary. Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door is my favorite game of all time and no entry in the series has disappointed me yet!
