Panic at the Disco, Dashboard Confessional to headline Rock Band Live Tour photo

Are you ready to rock ... and whine about your ex-girlfriend/boyfriend or girls/boys who won't talk to you? Look no further than this fall's first ever Rock Band Live Tour.

Headlined by Panic at the Disco and Dashboard Confessional (with special guests Plain White T's and The Cab), the Rock Band Live Tour will offer fans a chance to play Rock Band on the main concert stage in-between the tour's acts. Rock Band bands will be selected by local radio promotions and other national contests. Think you've got what it takes? You'll have some competition.

"I'm practicing my Rock Band drumming," said Dashboard Confessional singer-songwriter Chris Carrabba, "With any luck I'll win a spot on stage to show what I can really do."

Panic at the Disco already have a track featured on the Rock Band 2 disc ("Nine in the Afternoon"). According to Harmonix and MTV Games, we can also expect tracks from the other touring bands to appear as downloadable content sometime in the future.

The full tour schedule can be found after the jump.

I was once forced to go to a Dashboard Confessional gig by a girlfriend years ago....It was like a friggin' boyband concert - Girls crying, screaming and fainting everywhere.

...Never again.

I just don't understand the "Nine in the Afternoon" song. There is no nine in the afternoon-- that's night!

how do we celebrate a tour promoting a game that promotes itself with names like bob dylan, the who, and other classic rock hits?

have emo-pop bands play your show! hooray!

To be honest, Panic at the Disco is pretty far from an emo band in terms of their music. That's more than I can say for their wardrobes, though.

Panic's new CD is actually really good you should not judge it by there shit work that came before as it is different. I will say this about them I HATED them prior to this album and that is putting it very nicely....now I think they have a shot. As far as dashboard Chris can write and sing and play I think he should step away from overly sad and hit more upbeat songs as I think he is better suited for that and could use a image change. Not the greatest concert ever or even the top 500 bands I would ever choose but hey it's for the kids ...right?

There's a way to build cred Rock Band; have friggen Emos promote the game...facepalm.

All I can say is they better build a wat to skip their songs in the game or I'm gonna be hella pissed.

I like Dashboard Confessional. Chris Carrabba was emo back before "emo" meant "goth hipster." Dashboard is great live and I will definitely grab tickets to this show if it's nearby. Plus, Rock Band is awesome, too!

You guys are just haters.

Listening to these bands is a waste of time. Especially when there's quality music out there like Dream Theater or Ayreon.

@ aj2good4you2: When I think emo, I think Weezer not crying boys and makeup, but...what do I know?
Syn's Avatar - Comment posted on 07/30/2008 16:19

thats funny because the term emo (Emotional) was coined because of the crying boys and makeup as opposed to Weezer's geek rock.

@syn: Are you referring to the 80's when the term was first used? Because I'm referring to the 90's. And it sounds like you're referring to about two years ago.

I despise misunderstanding. Emo was a musical genre that was prevalent in the 90's and has long since died out. Many people refer to bands such as Panic at the Disco as the umbrella term of 'emo' when actually they should be classified as pop rock or possibly just alternative. The same applies to Dashboard Confessional. Real present day 'emo' music is in reality categorized as 'Post-Hardcore' which tends to have the angsty lyrics and sometimes screaming vocals that many people tend to associate with emo. Also the dress sense that is associated with emo music is actually called 'Scene' which a lot of people get wrong as well. I just needed to clarify that.

@TYP: Nobody cares if they were emo before it meant "goth hipster"; if they don't like it, they don't like it.

@ThisYearsPink:
After some research it turns out you're right. But I'm going to have to say that it doesn't matter either way. Emo originated in Punk which has essentially become garbage. The older punk bands may have had a good message but their music was awful, but emo didn't even originate there, or as a genre of music at all but rather to describe the performance of particular bands in Washington D.C.

Either way it sucks.

Wow...way to pick two bands that don't rock for a Rock Band tour.

@ ThisYearsPink

Weezer is not emo, they're alternative or geek rock. Emo is short for emocore, which evolved out of the hardcore punk movement of the 80s. Good example: Sunny Day Real Estate. Nowadays, it's been used to label any band that's whiny and dresses like they're some neo-glam rock band. I'm fairly certain Panic! is just "pop dance punk" and Dashboard Confessional is just whiny acoustic rock. Regardless, they both suck, so let's stop making music elitists like me feel the need to define things no one cares about.

Weezer is not emo. As a long-time, die-hard Weezer fan, I cannot state this often, or emphatically, enough. If Pinkerton did create the emo genre, then everyone else took "emo" and turned into something completely different, including Dashboard.

Also, Necros said things that are right.
