Pandemic's The Saboteur hits shelves December 8 photo

Electronic Arts has announced that it will ship Pandemic Studios' The Saboteur to retail on December 8, for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

Taking place during the 1940s Nazi-occupation of France, The Saboteur is unique in both art, gameplay, and story -- a revenge tale that takes place in the heart of a living city. Despite the fact that nearly everyone who has seen the game has walked away impressed (including us), it seems that The Saboteur is largely being ignored. It seems like a game that's destined to quietly sneak out to the market, and then disappear with a quiet whimper.

EA shipping it after the major holiday rush of 2009, but before the holiday proper, is probably not going to help matters. I could be wrong -- maybe the game will pick up huge buzz at San Diego Comic-Con this coming weekend. The Saboteur will be playable at EA's show booth (#5231).

Bizarre that this game is not generating 'buzz'. For the most part I don't really like stealth games but this looks like it could have a good balance between stealth and action, also the art direction is phenomenal.
They should put that quality trailer they created onto TV, I mean look at the massive hype Assasins Creed generated from a good video trailer with an inspired song choice (here in the UK anyway)
If I was them I would drop a few teaser trailers - using the same song - over the next couple of months and then start playing the whole trailer about October/November time. People will lap it up.
That was for free EA :)

Shame about the release date. I imagine they had no choice but to get it out this year, though.

It's probably being overshadowed by Call of Duty 6 and other high profile games. Even I forgot about it.

@Chaos

Hell yeah, I love that song and it went so well with the pacing of the advert. Whoever did that ad and/or picked that song are very good at their jobs. I know that a lot of my mates - casual players mostly - sole reason for buying the game was that advert. (Fuck if I'm being honest it pushed me towards buying it too =>)

Yup, they've pretty much screwed themselves out of good sales by releasing it then. Looks interesting though. Who knows what'll happen.

I'm keeping a close eye on this one. Any game that allows you to play as a stealthy Irishman will always get my attention. ;-D
