Pandemic: Everyone should beat The Saboteur for its story photo

What's worse, a videogame that is so easy it becomes a chore to play, or one that is so cheap, so frustrating, that you never get to see how the narrative plays out? It's a tough call, and one we usually don't have to make if the developers did their job right. Let's say they both suck equally and call it a day.

Lead designer of The Saboteur, Tom French, told MTV Multiplayer how the team at Pandemic wants anyone and everyone to be able to "sit down and play through the story."

"Difficulty for us is more about how much damage you do, things like that," he says. "We wanted the player to play through the story, meet all these characters, have the chance to experience it. I can have my wife play it on easy and she gets away with it and still has fun."

There is nothing worse than investing hours into a game only to realize one section is too impossible a task for you to handle. You may have heard Brad's story about how he had to restart Prototype on an easier difficulty, and it was almost that way for me with the same game.

Difficulty will certainly be a thing to look out for with The Saboteur. We don't forget these things.

Am I the only one hoping for an option to keep the game in black white and red?

Needless to say, the proof is in the pudding. If the story is engaging enough, people will play through the entire game anyway for the story. If it's not, they won't. It's all well and good scripting an amazing plot twist towards the end, but if people aren't engaged and don't care, then what's the point?

Um......

This is the most useless statement ever.

Solution: make a VERY easy mode, and make a VERY hard mode: everyone is happy. See Bayonetta. Problem solved.

Truck through that one part. It gets easier again until the last boss fight.

Brad is a wussy. Prototype wasn't that hard.

Actually prototype caused a friend of mine to rage so hard at the difficultly he lodged a controller into a wall. I was close during that one bit that's super cheap...however there's a trick to it.

Funny I can't recall any Pandemic titles that were so heavy on story. This'll be very iteresting to see as I'm a huge Pandemic fan but never thought of them as being storytellers.

I'm pretty sure Tom French means to say that people don't listen to the story and just rush to beat the game, but the header message just screams Captain Obvious.

I find it hard to trust them after Mercs 2, but this does look very good.

A demo would be nice.

Prototype's Medium difficulty mode should have been the Hard mode. I got through it, but had to walk away several times in frustration. I'm playing it on Easy+ now. It is much more fun. I can actually experiment with the new upgrades and marvel at the animations and scenery.

Think I'll skip the Hard mode altogether.
