We know a good game when we see one. But we can't help but think that many have missed out on or passed on a Wii game with a title like de Blob. So we originally guessed that this game would join the ranks of many other great titles that sell poorly and never get the praise and purchases that they deserve. It seems that de Blob did pretty well, though.
THQ says that their paint-slinging game sold over 700,000 copies at retail. And that's what we like to hear: original IPs doing well, even in this crap economy. Good for them. And they hint at a "very focused ... niche" new title coming. And there are DSi titles coming, too. Woo!
What's funny is that they consider Nintendo their competition:
"The competition on the Wii right now is from Nintendo. That's what we've got to attack," THQ CEO Brian Farrell said. "The people who buy Nintendo games, [we want to] get them to buy things like de Blob."
We wish THQ luck, especially seeing as how they have a 50 percent chance of going bankrupt.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
The graphics look good, the art style is even better, the gameplay is fun (painting the cities never gets old) and the controls work really well (though motion control jumping makes it less slightly precise than using a button) and the camera is a bit awkward when you want to use it manually but it works just fine otherwise.
Also, The music is damn catchy and the game's presentation is terrific.
For a game that's unique and not considered to be an AAA title, 700k copies is actually great.
Heres the 0 I found it under a bunch of old news papers. It also glows in the dark
HA HA HA! aren't I a stinker! woooohhhhh!
