"They don't care about their fans."
So, they collectively don't care? Every person, in every division, in every region in the company?
Wow, that is a whole lot of disdain...
...and also, bollocks.
This is surprising in some way? Or did people just forget that fan is short for fanatic
A) @Stevil's story in the comments
B) @Phil and @Stealth's timing of their comments.
So awesome.
In two weeks, the Supposed Bi-Gay Warrior will return and all will be sad....
:(
Ah, Pachter, the guy who says he votes Democrats because Republicans only care about the rich, yet Pachter has admitted he loves money and I doubt he gives any of it to the poor.
Ah, Pachter, the guy who couldn't predict his ass out of anything.
There's part of me that likes Pachter, but the man's clearly insane. Rich and insane.
That's a shame! You've missed some stellar games, like Xenoblade, Skyward Sword, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Rhythm Heaven Fever...
I've already repeatedly stated my opinions on Pachter's so called predictions and analyses, I won't bother to bring them up again.
But Pachter is such a bad-ass by insulting a core group of people.
Truly, one of the last real heroes.
@Paraxysm
Money. They "with hold" Titles because of money. What else is new in gaming?
But we still got the latest round of games that they "with held", and we got them because we were always meant to get them. They were waiting for the other regions to max out their sales before bringing it here.
You know, like Anarchy Reins. Persona 4. And many other companies that will be doing this more and more as the exchange rates against the yen continue to get worse.
If you said the sky was made of marshmallows, why should I have to right an essay refuting that?
Seems pointless to use logic to refute something so ridiculous... Regardless if fanboys of anything are extreme, his comment was still even more extreme than reality, even as a metaphor. It was also a blatant snipe, so of course people will be mad... though taking the time to mass assault without any actual commentary... Might as well have made a refute at that point, people. ^_^;
Not that trying to quash bullcrap with logic has ever really been successful on the internet...
Not like he's wrong, there's something very special about Nintendo that turns their fans into gibbering apes whenever anyone DARES to say anything bad about them or any of their games, hell I still remember the absolute clusterfuck when Twilight Princess was rated a 9.5 in Gamespot, holy crap, angry children EVERYWHERE.
And I seriously cannot believe you linked to a gamefaqs thread, are news that slow today?
Also I'd argue your claim that it is more profitable to withhold titles is utter bullshit. It does however encourage a quite rampant level of piracy on the wii since it's so easy to hack and emulate.
As for the cardboard statement... that's a grey area due to the fact that Nintendo wouldn't do that. They make quality entertainment video games. now on to your Wii Music rebuttal, it's for kids. parents bought it for their kids to be entertained. on the other side, a fanboy would indeed buy something officially sold by a company. whether it'd be for collection, or to resell to an even bigger fanboy. i hope this sheds some light from someone else's perspective.
But they would buy Mario Kart 50.
There is never an excuse for piracy, and blaming the victim in this case is tantamount to suggesting they never deserve anything for their work. The fault for lost sales due to piracy is the fault of Pirates and pirates alone, regardless of a game companies release policies.
Furthermore, the money "Lost" to eropean and possibly Japanese imports would probably have been more damaging than sales lost to piracy. And like I said: this will be a Growing trend for many companies, not just Nintendo. Way of the samurai being digital only in the US, Anarchy Reigns being finihed but not releasing outside of japan until months from now and Persona the arena's region locking are a few signs of this.
And They DO care for their fanbase. Of course they do. If they didn't, they wouldn't be making products for them at ALL. I'm not insinuating they love them like friends or some other kind of bullshit like that, but a successful corporation absolutely cares about their fanbase and consumers if for nothing else out of necessity.
BLAAARGH o[]o/
...rant over. @.@;;;;;
And in that sentence, by "imports" I meant From America to those regions.
...I need sleep...>.>
"...a vast amount of 'fuck you' decisions..."
I sincerely doubt their Corporate management sits down and decides their release schedule based on how much it will "offend" the fans.
It usually has to do with things that affect their bottom line; you know, like a business would.
And yeah, they DO care about their fans, at least a part of them; the part that makes the games, as well as the part that wants us to buy them.
Unless you're gonna go the "their games suck now" route of arguing, which I hope you won't because that leads nowhere.
In any case, corporations are people, lots of people, people who care for the corporation's health, and people who care for their customers.
And also assholes.
I understand that Pachter's just joking, but he is stirring a hornets nest. I'm a nintendo fanboy who used to get angry at him all of the time, but it's just not worth it.
Also, pretty sure Sony, xbox and apple fanboys are just as bad.
