Pachter plays the guessing game with holiday sales while Microsoft brags photo

I didn't get any new consoles this holiday season, so I have to admit I didn't do too much guessing about which ones sold best. Of course, why waste my time on such things when I could merely turn to Wedbush Morgan expert Michael Pachter and hear his thoughts on the matter (which are most likely right, considering he's an industry analyst and all).

Pachter recently spoke to videogaming247, saying:

"I haven't done the work for NPD yet, but my guess is that 360 sales were flat or up a little, PS3 sales down a little, and Wii sales up more than 100%."

He also mentioned that it would add up to about 1.2 to 1.3 million 360s, 3 million Wiis, and PS3 lagging behind at around 700,000 units. In the meantime, Microsoft is gloating over when they call their best holiday ever, saying that 2008 showed them growing faster than any of their competitors. I guess they are strategically ignoring the little white waggle box?

I really dont think Microsoft is threatened by the little white waggle box (clever name by the way). The Wii is clearly targeted at a different audience then the 360 and PS3... so you could make an arguement that they arent pulling from the same consumer pool entirely.

I was with Michael Pachter the night that photo was taken. I rode in the back seat of his Porsche.

Pachter's funny.

Well, not really. I mean he's pretty lame because he's letting his critics get under his skin, acknowledging them everytime he's on the Bonus Round. :-\

he doesn't bother me, he usually takes a very economic/business oriented stance of the industry...of course we're talking about people sticking shit in the wii's disc slot so sometimes things don't go over as well as they should.
