Modern Warfare has the more well known brand, that being said I've hardly seen any TV advertising for MW3 recently. Wonder if Activision are just that confident in the game selling well.
I'm already sick of military shooters. The last original Call of Duty was 4. MW3 will be the eighth instalment. Activision is running it headfirst into the ground, just like guitar hero.

Not really sure what the Drippy Dinkus line is all about, but I'd agree. The beta woes plus the recession limiting purchasing, I'd say 3 million B3 and 7 million MW3 sounds about right.

I only play Call Of Duty exclusively for the campaign now. Just 8 hours of mindlessly shooting at dudes who live in a different place than my character.
I wonder how much brand confusion is going to affect BF3's sales, the commercials on TV I have seen for both are quite similar.
The only way to change the big publishers way of doing business is to vote with your wallet. Sadly, there are alot of gamers to short sighted to care about the industry's behavior of lately or to oblivious to notice how poorly they are treating consumers.
Its really about having open multiplayer where noobs and elite can play together and that's what these shooters bring. The military shooter has been popular for far too long. I remember in college playing the Rainbow Six series at length as well as the original halo series. People will keep playing and paying as long as its fun, some fresh ideas, etc. Take a look at Madden...same shit every year, new rosters...sells like cakes. FYI I grabbed MW3 on PC for steam reasons and decided to pass on BF3 cause of Origin...so there is one sale that was shifted as I originally wanted BF3, but not at my own expense. I will prolly grab BF3 as well if it goes to Steam.
If EA doesn't get Origin out of "Clusterfuck" stage, I don't imagine Battlefield 3 will be very successful on the PC at least. I bought 3 different games four days ago and after several chats with customer support, I still haven't been able to download and install them. EA customer support wants to blame my connection. Meanwhile, Steam and XboxLIVE are still downloading all my goodies like nobody's business while I'm streaming Netflix in the next room. It's seriously fucked.
Good God! Imagine: Call of Duty, Battlefield, Medal of Honor, and Homefront all having a similar release window. I think the market would hurl.
It seems like they didn't put as much hype into this one. I kind of cashed out on the series after MW2 though I think it had one of the best single player campaigns I just kind of got sick of it. The multiplayer kind of just bores me to even think about now. Maybe it's only me but I have no interest in this series until they really do something new with it. I just can't justify 60 bucks when I feel like I would have an equal amount of fun playing the past few iterations. I wonder when more users will get their fill as I have. anyways I am curious to see how many sales they get. I'm not interested in the MW3 vs BF3 debate however I just don't think it matters.
War shooters are getting VERY boring VERY fast. I hope these are the last for a couple of years at least.
I also think the Modern Warfare marketing budget is massive and Microsoft helps out big time as every Modern Warfare ad that I have ever seen ends with "Pre-order now on Xbox 360" Nothing stating that it is even a multi-platform game.

call of duty still has life left unfortunatly. the series is still new to the bandwagon jumpers who started playing call of duty with mw2, and black ops. there are still plenty of those people still buying it. he is right about people getting sick of it like plastic guitar games, too bad it will take a couple more titles for that to happen. for me, the last call of duty game that was worth a shit was cod2, no perks, no annoying aircrafts, and noob toobers, cod2 was pick a gun and play with skills. next best game was cod4, it had it annoyances but it was a solid title, and the first modern shooter in the franchise. mw3 looks overly crowded with airplanes, helicopters, sentury guns, etc. packed full of crap, sticking 5lbs of shit in a 1lb bag. also happens to look like a $60 map pack for mw2. but, it will sell, it will beat bf3.......... sigh. wake up people, wake up.

More sales =/= better game. There are too many factors aside from the quality of the game that affect sales.
I'm not at all interested in any CoD (except the first). I would have purchased BF3 on PC, but then they made it Origin exclusive, and to put a nail in the coffin, they made a horrible UI, forcing battlelog down everyone's throats.

Well considering the amount of ass-hatting seems to have a linear connection to sales figures...so I hope this prediction is fairly accurate. Keep the screaming tweens out of Battlefield. It's for everyone's benefit.
Nonono. They will put out a great title (MW2) followed by a bad title (Black Ops - comparatively) then another great title (MW3). If Blops was amazing I could see over-saturation coming very quickly but I bet tons of people will get MW3 saying 'I hope / this will be so much better than black ops!', even more than got black ops in the first place.

In complete honesty, I have a hope that BF3 will dominate sales even after MW is released. It's a long shot, especially after EA's asshattery with Origin and their war of words with Acti, but I'm so gorram sick of MW that I couldn't give a damn.

If they release it on steam and don't force u to use origins I guarantee sales of bf3 will rise much higher.

I'm interested in the BF3 pc sales, wondering if the whole Origin thing actually affected it or not. Other than that, I'm sure MW3 will sell more, but I hope the competition and the fear of losing gamers to the other franchise makes both of them swift and efficient with patches and banning.

All that tech power focused on modern war games -- boring. I really miss the WWII setting or even the first WW. Last COD I loved: World at War.
Battlefield players should all know this is a good thing. One of the reasons I play Battlefield over COD is due alot to the community and if COD sells a few million more coppies than Battlefield it meams that there are a few million less complete fucking retards playing Battlefield then there are in COD. Greater community=greater multiplayer

Well duh. Everyone and their mother will buy MW3.

This just in, there are more "gamers" who buy only cod and fifa/madden (delete depending on location) each year, than there are gaming enthusiasts who play and buy a variety of games.
talking with my 16 year old nephew, the reason he and his friend splay COD over any other military shooter, is because its easy to hack on the 360 and they can mess around and do what ever they want.
