Pachter confirms Assassin's Creed 2 era switch, speculation ensues photo

Just as we dangled in front of you a few weeks ago, it appears as though the next Assassin’s Creed will be in a much different setting. Recently, games mega analyst Michael Pachter let it slip during an interview with GameTrailers that Altair will be traversing buildings “sometime in the 1700s.” He then proceeded to say that it could possibly revolve around the French Revolution.

If the game is placed in the French Revolution, there are quite a few exciting years it could explore. Will Altair be embroiled in another religious conflict or will Ubisoft put him smack dab in the middle of the Reign of Terror? My hope is for the Reign of Terror because I’m a big fan of the guillotine.

Either way, a new setting is definitely happening. Hopefully, Altair can learn a few new tricks during his time warp. I would hate to have to dive in a French haystack.

It's probably Japan, if the ending of the original is meant to be a clue.

I also hope that it's Japan, that would be so badass!
I'm gonna go rent Assasins Creed Tommorow now that I think about it.

I'm down for any setting, just as long as the game realizes its lost potential and nails everything it set out to do in the first one... I'm sold.

hahah this comment = win

the first AC was a great tech demo, an OK interactive movie, but not a game

see, gameplay isn't "go there and press Y to eavesdrop", over and over.

Ass creed was all hype and surface, with zero substance. a "game" for non-gamers and lamers

while i love me some guillotine, i wish it took place in the present (in-game present) just because i wanna see some modern day free running with assassinations thrown in.

They should make it modern with Jean Reno as your teacher.
And call it Assassins Creed 2: The Professional

I always wondered what it would be like to sit on a bench during the French revolution and now I'll be able to experience it.

A game set in the middle of the French Revolution, is like having a virtual world without a game inside of it.

So, much like the original Assassin's Creed, really.

Have Altair be played by Antonio Banderas and his rival by Silvester Stallone and I'm all over it.

Assassins 2 The Creed of Asss.

Patience. Assassin's Creed 3 will probably take place in modern day. It will be called Mirror's Edge.

@Crackpot360 - Assassins was an awesome movie. Remember when Banderas was talking to his laptop?

I want to play it. Keep it in the past, no matter what century. 1700 could be very interesting. It would be really cool if it was about the Dutch East India Company. We Dutch ruled the seas back in 1600-1700. I must confess, we were bastards back then. But it could be great story-wise.

Seems like a decent move. I hope three you are part of the Assassin group that kills Kennedy, as inappropriate as it may seem it would be a cool addition to the storyline.

Maybe they can finish it this time around? The first had some great ideas but was to repetitious and glitchy to hold my interest.

If he can swim, won't he be burned at the stake?

Fuck it. Let him swim!

PS - I loved AC. It just needed some fine tuning around the edges.
