It doesn't take an analyst to tell you that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is going to make some major money this holiday season, but it does take one to hone in on how much it's going to make in a set time frame. Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities says that Activision's next big game will top even its record-breaking predecessor.
Pachter told Industry Gamers that he feels MW3 would set a new entertainment record, making $1.1 billion in six weeks. Black Ops got close last year, hitting about $1 billion in six weeks. Pachter is already calling it as this year's best-selling game.
He also predicts good things for Call of Duty: Elite, Activision's social service: "We expect the Call of Duty: Elite premium membership plan to be very popular with CoD’s hard core gamers. Elite is being bundled at a $10 discount with the underlying game, which may accelerate as many as 3 – 4 million subscriptions into 2011."

However, CoD seems to have died down this year. I haven't seen nearly as much promotion for it, or people talk about it, like previous titles.

would like to try Black Ops but i have too many games to play to even care about.
I will get it next year sometime mostly for single player and the odd online romp when buddies want to change from BF3; however, I will never, ever, EVER pay for Elite.
Shame on people paying for that shit.
Then again, my MW2 got stolen.

Unfortunately, everyone playing Black Ops will have $60 worth of DLC so I'll have to pay that anyway. Here's hoping for a GOTY edition somewhere down the line for non CoD-heads like me.
Bought them all up to and including Lag Ops but the formula is so stale and outdated I have no desire to play it.
Also, it's coming out 3 days before Skyrim so there's absolutely no fucking way it's being bought.

I don't care about MW3 or BF3.
I buy games for single-player, and both of them have bad reputations for having shit SP. Plus I have terrible internet, therefore the multiplayer is pretty much useless.
