I'm sorry, I believe I got off point.
Anyway, more to my point, this is like saying to Mao Zedong after conceptualizing the Great Leap Forward: 'Your Excellency, what a fantastic idea!'
...and twenty million deaths later...
How about where are the sane and rational people who realize the man is just trying to do his job? Where are the reasonable people with enough brains to ignore this man if they find him to be so damn stupid?
Just pretend he's not there and you'll be a much happier person.
I find the lack of general response quite telling.
Only a tiny bit was flame baitish, the rest was simply stating fact. MS would not allow this to happen. That could even be seen as a positive part of live!
Activision are greedy bastards. We already pay for online with our consoles. With XBOX through our provier and subscription, or through provider with PS3 and Wii and also the other finances we pay towards developers with DLC and Arcade games on all systems. MS just so happen to be the more greedy where additional payment is needed.
MW2 is basically MW with new fancy badges and symbols and truly not a game that involves a great deal of aiming thanks to the insane auto-aim help with makes people with lesser skills become on par with gamers that are very skilled.
Its all about profit. Which is fine, but when the gaming industry collapses due to the greed caused by the likes of Activision making online gaming less accessible and fun, then we all know who to blame.
I spent $20 during the Steam sale and that was still a little much for me.

I wouldn't pay monthly for CoD, but I haven't bought a CoD game since the first Modern Warfare.
I say fuck it, let Kotick kill off another one of his franchises.
I fear that if Activision succeeds with that kinda stuff, if they'll prove that selling the same game to people every six months and charging for online brings more profit, than making something new, it's possible that other publishers will establish the same policy.
But Activision will fail. Maybe people are dumb enough to buy the same Guitar Hero and Call of Duty game for 3 years, and maybe they'll pay a monthly fee, but eventually they'll just get tired of the same games, that's when Activision will start loosing money. They'll have two options left, either start being creative, bringing new games and IPs to the market, or leave the business.
Pachter can say whatever the fuck he wants, but that's what will happen.
Exactly the same here. I'm a student. If I want games, I can't justify paying the full price for them - I wait until they're on sale at some point, or avoid buying them altogether. I have too many other games to splash out £30 or £40 on impulse buys. I'm a PC gamer, and the only Call of Duty game I've played was the first one, so this in itself doesn't affect me, but the possibilities it indicates for the industry bother me. There are numerous games out at the moment that rely on multiplayer as the main focus of their experience, and I'm just going to have to pass on them if subscription fees appear. I have enough distaste for non-free DLC as it is.
I've already done this, thanks. The future is now!
"Then the industry will move as a whole, such subscription models will become the standard and the vast majority of boycotters will wind up forgetting their lofty ideals."
Good try, but won't happen. I'll sell my Xbox360 and all my games before I give in to that.
You want that Golden Nade Launcher of Noobing? Gonna cost you $20 upfront, bucko. Change your name? $5. Server transfer (servers, ha)? $25. Yeah. I'm not really looking forward to this, despite the fact that I wouldn't participate in this silly program anyway.
The ironic party is it will never die. As long as fucking idiots continue to buy into this bullshit, the corpse is just going to keep getting turned and turned for a profit.
I actually hope this does happen...I hope it gets STUPID
The thing to remember here is that for all the people who swear they'll boycott such a decision, there are hundreds, thousands more who will buy it regardless. Maybe their friends talked them into buying the game, maybe an extra fee isn't that much to them because they only play CoD and Halo, maybe they did promise not to buy but gave into temptation because one man never made a difference.
You need only consider the case of Live's Gold membership. What we're seeing now is the industry trying to see how little they can give you in exchange for a fee, and I believe there are enough dumb people with money to make it a worthwhile venture for them.
