The Vita won't sell unless they make games for it!!!
I am glad they pay him to come these kinds of conclusions.
What will he tell us next "You will die if you do not breathe air?"
His words never hold truth when it comes to nintendo.
PS Vita is a bit on the steep side.
Both could use more games I would be interested in.
To whom do I submit my bill for my valuable insights?
oh wait !!
Pachter's Anti-Nostradamus technique is superbe.
If the Vita is $200, it really makes the 3DS XL seem expensive at the same price point when directly comparing the hardware specs and quality. Of course, hardware specs never sell handheld systems alone.
With all that being said, I just bought a Vita and I'm buying a 3DS XL when it comes out.
He is still a douchebag and wrong about anything that isn´t totally obvious !
It's pretty easy to hate on him but I think it's just because I want such a ridiculous, easy job. Jealousy.
So far on nintendo hes batting .125. He needs to be sent to the minors

If you want to be Wedbush's Entertainment Software Publishing and Retail analyst, give it a try.

Write them a message telling them that being a market analyst is such an easy job that they shouldn't employ any.
Vita is a quality machine, but $300 is ridiculous. Add $50-$100 for a decent sized memory card, it is in fact, hideously expensive.
Specs dont determine the future. And I wouldnt agree with him. You might be cursed. I wouldnt want that
I can see fanboys and people who don't like portables with small screens getting a 3ds xl, but aside from those, it's not that big of a thing.
The thing is, once the xl launches the regular could have a price drop, if that happens a lot of ppl may finally get a 3ds (myself included).
When Call of Duty stops selling big numbers, even THQ will laugh at Activision.
Square-Enix is missing out on huge money because they're unwilling to give their fans what they want.
Ex: FF6&7 remakes. Kingdom Hearts HD collection. Kingdom Hearts 3 or any console Kingdom Hearts.
You all know I'm right.
I'll be buying the 3DS XL first day, because i am COMPELLED to. It must actually be compelling to some of us that actually PLAY video games.
Predicting the future is not what an analyst does primarily, just what they get the most attention for doing. Their job is to analyze raw data, find trends, establish the efficiency of marketing, shit like this.
So I'd say a business degree and marketing experience would be a good start.
I've seen far too many people saying that the new 3DS is way more appealing to them then the regular one, so to think that its not going to be compelling to a mass of others is kind of rediculous. Plus, 19million sales to the regular 3DS kinda speak otherwise for the entire platform, let alone the "weak overall handheld sales" he's talking about.
As for the Vita, he seems to be kind of missing the point that you can't seriously think your going to haul a PS3 with you. Yeah, its a bit expensive, but if you go into wanting to get a new Sony product and think your going to get it for cheap, then you've been smoking something illegal.
Does that make it right? No. Does that make it as-per-usual? Pretty much, and Sony customers know that.
The library, for a completely new system, is fine. The 3DS isn't completely new, the format of the storage medium kinda is and the 3D aspect, but its basically the next step of a DS, that you can still use your DS cards in.. Vita isn't quite a PSP from what I understand (I didn't have or want one, despite wanting a Vita), pretty much in every way.
Building up a library is going to take time and we're pretty lucky to have PSN to fall back on from pretty much day 1 to pad out the game choices. The addition of PS1 classics will further that. The Vita's fine.
Sorry Pachter, this time I just can't bend my thoughts to meet yours.
"Nintendo should've waited until they had a 3DS version with both analogs built-in prepared."
I don't get why some people always fall into this argument.
I understand some, if not most people, wanted the feature, but how exactly would it affect things as they stand currently?
You really think it would be selling better, or making Nintendo any more money? Haven't you considered that it would split the market, and could hurt the brand?
I agree most people are inclined to instantly disagree with what MP says without soaking in it for a moment. His track record aside, he does make a few valid points. The XL is nice and it will help sales, which he states, but it isn't the second coming. The XL isn't that compelling, it's a nice piece of tech and the larger screen is great, but people weren't holding out for a newer system.
The Vita is very expensive compared to the PS3. He even states it's a great piece of hardware but in comparison to the home console, it's not going to takeoff anytime soon. Yes, it's new and the library isn't that deep but $250 is a lot for most buyers. Add to that you have to buy your Sony memory cards?
No, he isn't 100% wrong.
