OXM reveals March Rock Band DLC, February still a mystery

12:45 PM on 01.31.2008, Nick Chester 41 comments

     Rock Band

While we're still in the dark about what February will bring in terms of Rock Band downloadable content, the latest issue of Official Xbox Magazine has revealed what's in store for March. While Kotaku's Luke Plunkett seems disappointed by the selections (complaining about the lack of album downloads, that many of the songs are by bands that are already in the game, and that a few are covers), but I think there's quite a bit to be excited about here.

Week one brings us a pack of "thrash" songs, by the likes of bands like At the Gates and The Haunted. For those who complained about the lack of "heavy stuff" in Rock Band, there you go; my only problem is that while I'm sure they'd be a blast to play, have fun listening your friends struggle through the vocals during a mystery set list.

The second week brings some more classic rock including the Guitar Hero II favorite, The Police's "Message in a Bottle" (which I was just telling my wife needed to be Rock Band, stopping just short of calling Harmonix to demand it). Week three is a Nine Inch Nails pack, featuring the "should be fun on the drums" "March of the Pigs." And finally, week three is a metal pack, with some Black Sabbath ("Supernaut"), Iron Maiden ("Wrathchild"), and the questionable Metallica track "Fuel."

Hit the jump for the full list.

March 4 - Thrash Pack
At The Gates  "Blinded By Fear"
Evile - "Thrashes"
The Haunted - "Shadow World"

The Police - "Message in a Bottle"

March 18 - NIN Pack
Nine Inch Nails - "March of the Pigs"
Nine Inch Nails - "The Collector"
Nine Inch Nails - "The Perfect Drug"

March 25 - Metal Pack
Iron Maiden - "Wrathchild" (COVER)
Black Sabbath - "Supernaut" (COVER)
Metallica - "Fuel"

I'm still wondering where the full album downloads are.
WHY FUEL!?!? I really hope they wise up and add things like master of puppets or fade to black.

omfg At The Gates(which is btw Death Metal, not thrash)!!! Finally, a legit band, other than the obvious mainstream bands(Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slayer). Anyways, now I might actually consider getting rock band in the near future. I hope they do a price drop or something though.

I've been waiting forever for a real metal song, in this case it's one of the best melodic death metal songs ever. That is the one thing Rock Band is lacking really, metal songs. Yeah they have a few, but nothing compared to Guitar Hero 3

@Holyetheline:

Radiohead pack should be Just, Optimistic, and Bodysnatchers. I will settle for no less than full album downloadable content for OK Computer.

FUCK YES NIN PACK

HEY DRUMMERS HAVE FUN WITH THE PERFECT DRUG AND THE WHOLE THING WHERE ALL YOUR LIMBS FALL OFF

Although March of the Pigs is one of the few NIN songs I like, there's no way I'm supporting Trent Reznor in any manner. Biggest hypocrite since...ever.

Update: A spokesperson for MTV Games and Harmonix has informed Shacknews that OXM's March DLC calendar "is a tentative schedule and subject to change."

"Please stay tuned for confirmation of Rock Band DLC closer to their release," the representative noted.
