Warframe

Our first real look at Digital Extremes' Warframe

4:30 PM on 08.09.2012

Previously, Digital Extremes offered us a teaser for its four-player, cooperative, third-person shooter that so happens to be free to play. It's called Warframe, which isn't a terribly exciting name, but I'm looking forward to seeing more. This new trailer gives a quick glimpse of alpha gameplay footage.

Conceptually, this all seems rather promising. It'll ultimately come down to whether or not the slicing and gunplay are both enjoyable, though knowing who's responsible for development has me feeling pretty good about that. If you like what little has been shown, be sure to sign up for the closed beta.

Review: Warframe

Warframe has just released on the Xbox One, and it's undergone some changes since it launched -- mostly good changes, meant to add more content to the game in the form of items and missions. It still fails in all of the same areas however, mostly its inability to craft an interesting world, and the free-to-play scheme that encourages far too much grinding.more

Warframe's next update lets you fly around in space as a ninja

I had played a bit of Warframe on PC to see what it was about, thought it was merely okay, and moved on not much later, as you do. Digital Extremes' free-to-play cooperative action game has since come to PlayStation 4 -- and...more

Warframe heading to Xbox One this year

Digital Extremes' free-to-play shooter Warframe has done well for itself on PC and PlayStation 4. It'll probably do well on Xbox One too, which is where it's coming next, sometime this year. Although, fact of the matter is i...more

Digital Extremes would 'love' Warframe on Xbox One

Digital Extremes' Warframe feels like a natural fit for consoles in scope and execution despite being a free-to-play title. The third-person shooter is already confirmed as a launch game for PlayStation 4, but what about Xbox...more

Free-to-play Warframe will be a PS4 launch title

War has framed. Or something. Man, these names are stupid. Fine. At least this one has character designs that look like aquatic Evangelion monsters. Warframe, from Digital Extremes (The Darkness II, Star Trek: The Video Game...more

Fun with exoskeletons: Digital Extremes talks Warframe

When developer diaries are bad, they can be horrendously awful. This one, for Digital Extremes' Warframe, is actually quite nice. Rather than have canned, PR-fueled talking points, they got some people working on the game to...more

Review: Ironfall: Invasion

Developing a Gears of War-like cover shooter for Nintendo 3DS is unconventional, but that's just what VD-Dev did with Ironfall: Invasion. Featuring both local and online multiplayer, as well as an 11-stage campaign, the project seems fairly ambitious for the handheld, and as you'd expect, there are mixed results. While multiplayer turned out well enough, the campaign is a mess.more

Far Cry 4 somehow gets more dangerous in Valley of the Yetis

If Far Cry 4's jaunt through Kyrat serves as any indication, the Himalayas are an incredibly dangerous place. Whatever isn't trying to maul you is trying to shoot bullets at you. It's like being caught between a rock and a h...more
