Original Telltale developed games in the works photo

So look -- Telltale Games' Sam & Max Seasons are consistently pretty awesome. And the forthcoming WiiWare title, the hilariously-named Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People episodic series, definitely has our attention. But how about some original stuff? According to a conversation that Telltale CEO Dan Connors had with 1UP, it's definitely in the works.

"Right now, we're still building the Telltale brand, and not having enormous marketing budgets to work with for an original title, we work with these franchises that are known, and that helps us build an audience for Telltale," he says of working with existing franchises.

He off-handedly hints at an original game "where you investigate a missing person or whatever," and makes mention of a Flint Paper spin-off series, in reference to Sam & Max's private detective neighbor who investigates with his fists. Of course, this is all just talk, and there are no solid plans to announce at the moment. Connors suspects to announce an original product in 10 months at the "earliest," and 18 months at the "longest."

Let the waiting and speculation begin.

Flint Paper would be awesome though I would be also curious to see Telltale Games do a game with a mature serious tone (just because it would be a departure of what they've done recently).

Regardless, as long as they keep making fun games - I'm all for it.

They already have me interested in anything they put out in the future, licensed or not.

Since Steve Purcell works at Telltale couldn't you argue that sam and max is an original title?

TV show + comic book + old adventure game = Franchise

I just want them to finish Bone, even though nobody cares about that franchise any more.

I think it's more like Steve Purcell is working with Telltale, not for them... Same with the Chapman brothers on the new Strong Bad game. But since the first Sam & Max came out years ago for LucasGames, I don't think it qualifies as a original title in any case.

I dont care what they do. Sam and Max has been so good, that I doubt they could put out anything crappy without circumstance

Wow, a Flint Paper spin-off game would be awesome. A game about a man who is insane by even Max's standards almost couldn't suck.

Sam and Max Season 1 was fantastic , I'm just waiting for Season 2 to hit Steam these days. I'm really glad a small developer like Telltale is doing so well , I'll support them!

Why not just get it from the telltale website? :S

That way, presumably more money goes back to Telltale and if you buy the season bundle you get the option to have the lot on a DVD for the cost of shipping with some extras thrown in.

Plus there's all the awesome Sam n Max merchandise like the comics & animated series for sale.

(No I don't work for Telltale, hehe) :P

I just prefer to buy my pc games through steam now , digital distribution is the future. I am of course interested in the comics; also I found the entire animated series for 25 dollars at work last week so I plan on buying that but might buy it over their website like you suggested since more of my money will go to them.

@dfielder

Buying on Telltale's website is digital distribution. Go get it, you're missing out.

@dfielder: Telltale have based their business model around digital distribution. Monthly episodic games would be pretty awkward if they only came on CD.

They also sell said catoon series on DVD for the same price.

Also does Steam allow you the option of getting the CD for the cost of shipping if you bought the full season over it?

Broaden your horizons to other means of digital distribution and you might not have to wait for things longer than you need to as in this case.
