At a recent Sonic Generations panel during Paris Games Week, Sonic Team's Takashi Iizuka revealed that the original Sonic the Hedgehog will be available in the upcoming nostalgic platformer as a full unlockable game.
Sonic Team also showed off the game's level hub, which is a scrolling selection of doors containing levels and littered with Sonic's furry friends. Don't worry -- their inclusion seems minimal and not too horrific.
Sonic 1 is a cool bonus but it's a shame they couldn't include all the Genesis titles. Of course, by "couldn't" I mean "didn't want to" because SEGA could easily have tossed those in, the cheeky bastards.

Jim, I'm sure you didn't intend it this way, but that last part really comes off like "fuck you for giving me one free game, I want ALL the free games" and it kinda sucks. I mean, it IS a free game after all.
Good on Sega for giving out a freebie but I wish it was Sonic 2.

matter how many different avenues I can find the other games on.

About the Sonic 1 unlock. Is it only unlockable in-game with no way of 'owning' it traditionally, or are you able to download it through the service that you played Generations on.
For example, let's say I unlock Sonic 1 while playing on Steam, can I download Sonic 1 on Steam complete with leaderboard support and achievements?

Woulda been nice if they included all the Genesis titles, for sure. I actually am probably the only person I know who doesn't really care much for the original Sonic game any more. I liked it when it came out, but I find it hard to replay now.
But if you can edit the post, why not just delete the comment? That seems like a more logical solution than swearing at your readers.

I'm very excited for Generations. The new demo was great and the tweaks to modern Sonic were solid. I know its one level buy my hopes are high. Also have you seen the play through of classic sky sanctuary?
