Well, it's not just an Xbox 360. It's a premium gaming PC with an integrated Xbox 360 'slim' inside. Oh, and did I mention that the Xbox 360 is liquid cooled? Origin calls it the Big O, and says that it gives gamers the best of both worlds. Look at the picture above. Check out the bottom left corner of the massive case. You'll see an Xbox 360 tray. Seriously.
Running right alongside the Xbox 360 innards is Intel Xeon 5680 processors, each with six cores. You get two of them in the ultimate configuration. This rig can have up to 24GB of RAM, though the standard 12 should be enough. There's quad SLI EVGA GTX 580 FTW for graphics, also liquid cooled. Add in an ass-ton of storage and Blu-ray and you have a machine that is going to make your Xbox 360 look like crap. It's still in there though should you want to leave the wonder of high end PC gaming for a bit. The whole thing ships in "Origin Wooden Crate Armor" for only $16,669. Or you can get the cheap-ass one for $7,799.
Origin says that they'll be showing this beast off at Creative's booth next week during CES. I plan to swing by and check it out.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Couple in the fact that SLi is still widely unsupported, and it's a pointless investment.
Do I still want one?
Definitely.
This setup just seems redundant, and not quite as impressive.
Quad SLI EVGA GTX 580 FTW?
The hell kind of game is going to need that much power?
$16,669... you can get a PS3, an Xbox360, a Wii, a DS, a PSP and an over the top gaming PC with a hugeass monitor for that amount of money and still have extra for whatever you want to spend it on
I like the concept of an xbox360 crammed inside a pc, and the liquid cooling i like that too. But those are server specs.
Granted, an H20 cooled 360 would greatly appreciate the lower temps, and in turn would prevent some chops caused by heat, but at the end of it all, your system speed for the 360 is still the same.
Just to verify, massive overkill for that price. If you want a rig like that, pay 1/3 or so and DIY.
I'm pretty sure that if you were integrating a 360 into such an expensive piece of kit, you'd want it water cooled. Those things run extremely hot and you can imagine that taking apart such a custom piece of kit would be a nightmare.
Agreed with the build it yourself comment though. It's a lot easier than people think, too.
For exactly the same reason that Alienware are still in business.
People don't know WHAT the fuck to buy as far as PCs go.
IT'S SHOWTIME BIG O
Wat u be sippin on in dat grail, son?
Sum cummy eggnog?
Only God would have enough electricity to power that thing on a regular basis.
call it The O-Face!?
I kid, I kid. But seriously. This would blow up the innards of a 360.
quoted for truth.
BIG O! SHOWTIME!
Dammit beaten!
BiiiiiG OOOOOOH! SHOWTIME!
You can LITERALLY buy a top of the line PC that will run anything you throw at it for less than $1500. The newest games, 3D modelling/rendering, video editing, audio production, animation, architectural design, etc.
There is absolutely no need for this oversized monster of a rig. One year after you buy it, new, cheaper technology will be available, and in two years it will out perform yours.
Also, that oral someone else mentioned works too.
