Ignore the first minute. Although cool, the first section of this trailer for upcoming Nintendo DS game Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia is just random, gothic images flashing over a dramatic score. After about a minute the actual gameplay kicks in ... and, man, does it look good.
While I go through this same emotional cycle with every new Castlevania handheld game (I love it, I hate it, I LOVE IT!), this extremely well-produced trailer gives me very high hopes for Order of Ecclesia.
It seems the designers have (finally?) taken what works in the series and expanded on it, making everything feel fresh and exciting again. Check out the crazy new (touch-screen enabled?) move at 1:17 that is prevalent throughout the trailer and the epic magic spell at 2:14 to get an idea of what I am talking about.
What do you all think? More of the same or do you finally feel that the series is starting to slowly evolve? Like me, does this trailer get your retro adrenaline flowing? Also, how great do those bosses look? Wow.

I'm really, really excited for this game, it looks amazingly well produced this time. But as Is aid before, I'm worried with some of the parts that looks like that you're using the touch screen, but I hope it's just me. Oh god..I want this game now!
Holy shit! YES! I hope the game has mini cut scenes or an ending with the artwork from the beginning of that video. I look forward to being able to play the new character. A lead female in a Castlevania game put me off at first but it looks like they are using her as an actual character and not just eye candy so thats nice. She also looks like she can throw down with the rest of em.
I never got into Castlevania. Which makes this trailer all the greater considering I think I may buy this game.
The change in art style is amazing (even as a non-Castlevania fan, I knew the animu was a bad style for it). Shanao (the female lead) looks really cool and I'm positive is voiced by Michelle Ruff; and one of the guys looks like Balthier.
I was turned off by the previous CV games on DS, but this one looks like it's back to hardcore Mega Man/Metroid-esque action, and it looks awesome. The music samples are great, too.
Meh, it has potential. It definitely looks like they've taken pages from SotN, the castle even looks similar. It looks a lot like every other side-scrolling Castlevania, that doesn't necessarily make it bad though.
Last one I played was Dawn of Sorrow and I LOVED IT (even my brother, who never plays handhelds... and he completed it). So I'm definitely ready for this one.
I'm in the same boat as Novakaine on this one. I never got much into Castlevania, but the giant crab that shoots [bold] bubbles[/bold] is enough to make me want to play.
It's about time they ditched the cheesy anime art they've used for the last few titles. That's a step in the right direction.
It's also nice to see that Alicia from BulletWitch found a new job.
The game looks like every other GBA/DS Castlevania though. I'm sure it'll be a solid game but I'm done with 2D Castlevania's until IGA wises up and makes one for 360/PS3. I bought PoR last year and played it for all of 2 hours before I was bored.
Open your eyes, brother, for you have sinned. This looks completely different from the GBA games. Have you even played them? Seriously, go emulate circle of the moon, and then check out Portrait of Ruin, it looks better.
I can't ever be unhappy about another 2D Castlevania. The environments, the story, the MUSIC! I'm glad that they seem to be trying to evolve the franchise while not straying from what has worked.
I'm with tsunamikitsune. So glad they dropped generic anime style. I like anime but the gothic art look was infinitely better so why ruin a good thing.
it does indeed look sexcellent, but here's hoping it's better than Portrait Of Ruin (which wasn't bad by any means, but wasn't as good as Dawn of Sorrow)

Also, fuck yeah! Yell those silly magic spell names! Woo hoo!
Remember the tribal moves from the DS Crystal Chornicles?
Horrible.
Please, don't fail me.

Love the giant enemy crab too. "SKRAAAAAAAAH!"

Glad to see that they've updated the art style from the last two.

looks good.
This looks really good. I'll look forward to getting it once I trawl through a huge library of games. :O)
i really do.
It better have upside down castle!
i agree with krylonkoopa
Why cant every game on the ds have such a nice look!?
Cannot wait!
Are you pretty prominent on a site called own-age.com? Thats not exactly a common name.
-Her walking speed is a bit slow, that's odd
-The crab boss looks awesome!
also that part with the ship looks cool
Looks awright... I'm sure I'll play it. Nothing that new looking though.
I think she's talking about my free time.
