UK-based Codemasters has announced that Operation Flashpoint: Red River -- its latest tactical combat game with an emphasis on an authentic experience -- is due for release on April 21 within EMEA regions, and April 26 throughout America.

The game is set in Tajikistan (no, I swear it is a real place!), and follows the story of US marines as they fight against insurgents. Codemasters' latest trailer shows new gameplay set through the eyes of Corporal Ryan Balletto, and takes a look at the game's environments. Operation Flashpoint: Red River supports four-player co-op, with the  seamless ability to drop in and out of the game at any time. Players can continue to build up XP across all modes, using the experience to upgrade weapons and adjust their character to their own style of gameplay.

Operation Flashpoint: Red River will be available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Games for Windows.

America's military down to a T

Same release week as SOCOM 4, so no day 1 purchase, but want to give it a go at some point.

Ummm...thanks, I know it's a real place. Are your readers so uneducated they would think otherwise?

I'm still waiting for the game that plays exactly like ArmA II but doesn't run exactly like ArmA II.

Yeah it's a nice video and all, but we all remember how it went down in the end... That and the "don't-give-a-fuck" Codemasters attitude.

Poop on Codemasters. Their last patch for Dragon Rising? Added back in the flag to call custom code. Thanks guys, after a bajillion years of the community working their asses off to run their own code to keep your shitty game alive. Codemasters can suck it.

I wish they would offer some type of arcadey mode. Or allow cheats for extra health, faster movement, etc.

So it wouldn't affect the gameplay for the realism guys out there.
