Open the flood gates: First user-created content for Unreal Tournament 3 PS3 photo

Only two weeks after the game's release, the first user-created content for Unreal Tournament 3 for the PlayStation 3 has hit the Internet. By way of FileFront, users can now download the map, "DM-Shrine," created by an English 23-year-old graphic designer, Thomas Browett. The small, close-quarters combat map is designed for deathmatch with up to six players

Installation looks like it should be a snap -- simply unzip the map file to the root directory of any memory card that is readable by the PS3 (a USB stick should do the trick). Next, boot up the game and navigate to the "Community" menu, where you'll choose "My Content." Pressing square will begin the content import process.

I'm out of town, and don't have access to my PlayStation 3 until tomorrow. Would someone kindly head over to FileFront and tell us if installation is as easy as it sounds? Thanks, you guys are dolls.

Wake me when someone creates a mod that makes the game upscale to 1080p.

Wake me up when I have enough money to afford an HDTV of any kind.

1080p? You have more money than God, sir.

@kintaeb - Circuit City had 46" Sharp AQUOS LCD HDTV's going for $1299 on Black Friday, and Newegg had exactly the same thing for exactly the same price a day later. I'm sure that is considerably less money than what a god might have. I'm SO sure that I picked one up! Mass Effect looks orgasimic on 1080p at 46", holy shit.

Also, in relation to this article, this sort of shit happens every time a game with editing capabilities is released. There's always some douche that tries to release their map first, as if anyone actually gives a crap about it. 9 times out of 10, the map happens to be crap. Has anyone played this map, yet? Is it crap? I'm betting it is.

It installed just like in the description. It's a decent small map. I'm surprised one's out this quickly.

@dvddesign: I've read that UT3 will run in 1080i if you have a 1080i only hdtv. Some of the newer games are finally starting to use the ps3's scaler. They've got a list on the playstation forums. If you have a 1080P TV that will probably do a better job upscaling it anyway.

Wait, why can't you download it from the game itself?

Is there a giant enemy crab? Exactly how big is this user-generated crab? The PS3 has crabs? Kutaragi you slut!

So the 360 has red rings and the PS3 has crabs. It's a good thing the Wii doesn't have herpes or retirement homes would have to start getting shipments of Valtrex.

I give it one week before someone finds out a way to hack the living crap out of the PS3 using a custom mod.

Got it First of all a little copypasta :

Here is how to install UT3 mods on your PlayStation 3.

1. Unzip the file to the root directory of any memory card that is readable by your PlayStation 3. It is already in the proper directory structure but, just in case, the path and filename need to be: ps3\savedata\blus30086-modimport\userdata.jam
2. Boot up Unreal Tournament 3 on your PS3
3. Go to the “Community” menu
4. Choose “My Content”
5. Press the [SQUARE] button to “Import Mod”
6. Follow the directions on the screen to import it from your memory card.

-----------

#7. When prompted, it shows your USB disk. Select YES w/ "X".

#8. Confirm Import. ( Defualts on YES. Press "X" to continue.

#9. Valla it Installs & Unpacks. & you're ready for a decent tight 2-6 Player Deathmatch!

-------------------

I did not take online. ( Requires me to a 10 minute Hard Reset of the Cable Modem & another 10 mins to get back to DTOID! )

Hope this helps Nick! EASY AS BUTTER or Lube!

#10. after unpacking. You have to exit out of the "Known / Showin Content" Mods menu. & The Community Menu. From there to "Instant Action", "Deathmatch", & then choose the Map/Mod!

The patch was for the PC tools, not the ps3 game. I think epic converted this one for the ps3 themselves, so I don't think the patch has actually been released yet.

This isn't so much about the map. If the PS3 export or "cooking" is working, there's quite a few maps I want to try.

The fact that it's on Filefront doesn't bode well. They still haven't worked out the UnrealED PS3 stuff.

There's only one issue with Dl'ing multiple mods.

The filenames & folders are all named the same.
I got it done... Computer --> PS3 ... ( Shitty )

Sure!

I agree it's a bit of a hassle moving the files around, but it's a small price to pay. Almost had a aneurysm reading the Joystiq thread on this.

Beer got in the way of my trying them out last night, but I'll be taking them for a spin tonight.
