If it's true, "Remade from the gound up" and "Activision" worry me. Their definition of better is slightly warped.
So its real? Here's hoping they update everything properly. Actually, the IR sensor would probably be very similar to the aiming system in the original. As long as they're smart about what to update, this could be great.

I'm skeptical. Remake =/= port and therefore it could radically go both ways. From what I'm reading it just smells like a cash-in. Not unlike the Goldeneye "sequel" we got last gen.
I see 100k copies sold. The Wii is definitly the wrong platform. And Activision is the wrong publisher
When I think GoldenEye, I think Pierce Brosnan so I'm not sure how to feel about this. I can't imagine this turning out badly but who knows.
@Stakmaster - Since Activision holds the rights to Bond and Nintendo the rights to the Goldeneye game, there aren't many other places besides Wii and DS for it to go.
XBL recently got an update of Perfect Dark with Goldeeye multiplayer levels reskinned as PD levels, but Rare can do that because they reskinned them. There's your "Goldeneye" on other consoles.
Perfect Dark was always better anyway, though, it was romanticism that makes people spooge all over Goldeneye. It sure as hell wasn't the movie because the movie was total shit. Maybe Daniel Craig and a new cast can make the game version better than the Bronson movie was.
I like the Craig's Bond movies better anyway.

Playing the original Golden Eye now totally ruins the nostalgia I had for it. The game is unplayable for me now, because Im so used to modern day FPS controls. This game will probably be shit anyways.

Golden Eye does not hold up now adays... Remake isn't gonna work lol. Nintendo does make there money on Nostalgia though.
Thought this would happen. But since it's Activision, I'm not giving them a penny for it, even if it turns out to be GotY.
I'm gonna have to say that Time Splitters was the closest thing to the original Goldeneye, and one hell of a fun series at that.

When you go back to it, Goldeneye works for nostalgia. It's not something still super satisfying like Doom; no, Goldeneye works because you remember playing it with your friends. A Wiimake with a different actor in the starring role might as well be an entirely different game. Which tells me the title is a cash in, which is followed by the whole thing being a cash in.

Fingers crossed this turns out to be true. My favourite game ever combined with the best console FPS aiming system ever made? Get this right and Activision may even earn my luv. Interesting to see what they do to the game, a long shot would be reinstating all the bits Rare had to remove, such as driving a boat out to the island on the Dam to take out the final alarm + collect something, the second exit from the Facility vents, using Ourumov's briefcase to enter the Silo rocket, the Citadel map... depends what sort of risks they're willing to take though. I expect a reskin with added online, which is fine by me. I still play the N64 original and while the signposting is a shambles by modern standards, its gameplay is far deeper and more nuanced than any recent FPS' I've played.
If its remade like Perfect Dark then yes I will buy it but I'm very Skeptic because its getting made by Activision (aka Evil Kotick Empire) and also its disappointing that its on the Wii and not the 360.
While it may sound redundant, this is a little too bad that it's on Wii. Many people who played the classic and loved it have migrated to other systems. Denying them this game is just wrong.
If this does happen, though, and classic controller support is an option, I'd buy it. I would hate for this game to be Wiimote only as there'd be no point in even playing the game.

You know, maybe M$, Big N, and Sony need to but aside their bottom line and prove Activision wrong that they can get the supposedly done port out the door. Seriously guys, you need to make it happen now.

Why on earth would they change the story and replace Brosnan? Goldeneye was the best Brosnan movie, and they're going to take him out of it? Fail.

@HEL105 - in what reality was Bronson ever a good James Bond? OK, he makes Timothy Dalton look bad, but that's as far up the ladder as he got.
I'm personally happy the recent Bond movies got ride of the campy shlock they've been mired in for decades. New Bonds are actually more like the books, rather than parodies of the books.
