Sony will allow PS3 games to the PS Vita. Do not ask me how I know. I just have a hunch.
Also, cloud gaming like Onlive is what I always wanted on a portable device. I want to experience it for myself before I can say it rocks. I doubt the video quality will be great although I really like the Xperia Play buttons (they are like psp).
Anyways. People should be a bit engrossed by the fact these type of proof-of-concept things are possible.
I'm loving the ability to play my old roms, including PS1, with great controls. I love playing GTA3 with gamepad support. And I can't even imagine how awesome this will be!
"Sony will allow PS3 games to the PS Vita."
Typo? Because, how would that be even mechanically possible?
You left out,
"Do not ask me how I know."
*typo*
"Sony will allow PS3 games to stream to the PS Vita."
Not via remote play (that would not work) but, via a complex server side set-up that the PS Vita and probably PS4 could take advantage of for the use of enjoying PS3 titles across Sony devices.
Digitally how?
A single game would fill a 32GB memory card. Nevermind the architecture of both is completely different.
@handhelds4ever
So, cloud computing?
I don't see it.
"its still dumb if you own consoles and the games themselves.
It doesnt add value"
So, if you DON'T own consoles and the games themselves, then it's SMART and DOES add value? Wow. Thanks for that optimistic outlook. Happy Holidays!
I appreciate your stealthy nature, its hard to pin down a definete answer. (do you work for the gov't? (you don't need to answer that))
"Because the latter is obviously false and the former is mere conjecture."
LOL, "mere conjecture", right, as opposed to the 100% fact that it will happen?
You're funny when you try to sound serious.
And I thought the "I" in "I don't see it." made it clear that is was an opini... oh, wait, "conjecture"...
LOL.
And as to why I "conject" that I don't see it: Sony would be competing against themselves. I don't see them spending so much R&D on a powerful piece of hardware that then only uses a fraction of it's power for using a service limited to only 3 primordial areas and that is in direct competition to their other retail and online offerings.
Also, they have no need to do it.
Therefore, I still don't see it.

at&t offer a 4G version. also there is a rumor that Verizon is planning a 4G LTE version of the Xperia PLAY!
http://www.xperiablog.net/2011/12/13/verizon-planning-a-4g-lte-version-of-the-xperia-play/
The only problem is as the play only has one set of shoulder buttons and the clickly analog sticks. So you end up missing some of the buttons so they need to fix that maybe with some one screen l2/r2 buttons and make the circle pads on the play know when the are being pressed as buttons.
I had a problem in deus ex where jenson croutched while being in cover against a wall and i couldnt get him to come out of it because the button just didnt exist and you cant change the controls in the game.
But other games like sf let you remap the controls so it worked just fine.
The only way you MIGHT be able to get away streaming on towers is if you have a 4G phone, and that is a BIG if.
I have the Verizon version that's only 3G and it pretty much scoffed at me trying to log in with my shitty connection, but I do have unlimited data and those poor bastards who bought the 4G version of it don't, and I feel sorry for them, those dumbasses will eat through their monthly data cap like it was donuts at a weight watchers event.
Wi-Fi is the only way to go
That said, I won't buy any games until I can adjust the double shoulder button reassignment conundrum.
I will say, the controller makes a world of difference. Playing GTA III or Sonic CD on it is a blast, and some of the android games are also great (Eternal Legacy was true glory).
To hear people discounting this because it doesn't play PSP games or the like are obviously confused by its purpose, or at least the way I see it. It's a smart phone first, gaming system second. It really is just a glorified controller on a decent smart phone.
If they make a second, I bet it would get much more praise if it had Tegra II in it or something like that.
Don't discount this little phone. I have played many hours on this thing and it's definitely great, especially since most places are offering it for free now.
