Well, this just sucks! Every game I had every intention of buying and playing the shit out of (Mass Effect 3, Uncharted 3), I will not be buying now. I can't condone online passes or any game that uses them. So simply for principle's sake, I won't be getting either of these games, even though it hurts just saying it. I'll just have to spend my money elsewhere...good job guys...way to keep the fans happy. :/
I wonder if devs/publishers ever regret having multiplayer shoehorned into their game - using time and money that could have been spent on additional single player content or just polishing the game - only to find out nobody plays it?
Rocksteady told they had to fight tooth and nail with the publisher to not put multiplayer in Arkham Asylum. I'm glad those dudes knew what's up - and that they won.

Just wait. Now that multiple companies are now doing the online pass thing, EA's going to up the ante by also requiring that you by a Sexy Time Pass in order to complete the 'romantic' side quests. Also, it will cost you double if you want to get it on with aliens.

This is indeed shit. It's still one of the very few games I'm buying day-one, so it doesn't really effect me. But still, this is shit.
Imbeciles, it doesn't fucking matter if you plan on playing multiplayer or not. It's still a bullshit asshole move and they get away with it because the apathetic lazy masses keep saying "derp herp doesn't affect me". Well that was obvious. Even the PC edition of Mass Effect 1 had an online pass. (Bring Down The Sky, anyone?)

Also, I'm a PC gamer so I don't have to worry about used copy crap, and if ME3 won't be on Steam I'm not buying it anyway. (Not out of spite, but because Origin bills me in overpriced Euro prices when everyone else bills me in USD and hell will freeze over before I buy things on Origin.)
This makes my decision to buy Mass Effect 3 new a bit more difficult although I expected this. You see, I don't mind buying Uncharted 3 used because I only really enjoyed the campaign mode of part 2, and there are no restrictions against used gamers playing that mode. I can live with not playing a single minute of Uncharted 3 multiplayer since the beta didn't impress me anyway.
With Mass Effect 3, I have no idea if the tacked-on co-op mode will be any good. History points towards crappy, but I like to give things a fair shake before judging them. We'll have to see about it. I lean towards buying new because I love how the CE looks, and I am a fan of the Mass Effect series with my female Infiltrator Shepard kicking ass.

From the description of it in the FAQ the ME dudes wrote up, the multiplayer sounds anything but tacked-on. I'll wait and see how it turns out before I start shedding fanboy tears. As for the online pass, I frankly can't bring myself to give a hoot seeing as I've already got it pre-ordered. I guess that makes me an abominable selfish asshole and Part Of The Problem, but so is your face.
Also, retail pricing here sucks. $80-$100 for console games and $60+ for PC games, and price drops rarely happen. Yaaaaay.

Let's all go read books instead. And grow our own vegetables, raise our own meat, and fabricate all of our clothes. That will show everyone not to do (fill in the blank) anymore, and we will change the world.

I have enough fanboysm in me about Mass Effect that I'll probably end up buying the "Collector Ultimate End Of The Universe Apocalypse Normandy Edition" or whatever but I'm still saying "Fuck you EA, your online passes and your shoehorned multiplayer"

I was referring to the non-issue of the 'online pass', as with the previous game in the franchise, where, a minimal stink was raised and then quickly forgotten because it was Mass Effect 2. I fully expect that to be the case, yet again.

PC CD keys are an ancient relic that we had just recently evolved beyond (thanks to digital distributors like Steam). Online pass keycodes are a regression to worse times. You can't justify an injustice today just because it used to be accepted in the past.
