Destructoid is gaming news, community, videos, and sometimes love. Take the tour or jump in with Facebook:

The band The Answer released a press statement today declaring that one of their songs, "Never Too Late" (video of the song above), will be appearing in Guitar Hero IV. They also stated that Guitar Hero IV would be coming out at the end of this year:

"This is a tremendous honour and privilege for both The Answer and the Alberts label," said James Cassidy, UK boss of music label Alberts.

The song is one of 20 picked out from over 200 songs that were submitted at a trade fair event by Activision. It's no surprise that GH IV is coming out this year. The franchise is now a giant money cow and they're going to milk this baby dry.  So what do you all think of this song from a band no one has ever heard about before?

My only hope is that GH4 will be coming out for the PS2. I already got the guitar and the previous four GHs. Don't leave us poor PS2 version owners out in the cold.

I think yawn...way to utterly murder and rape the soul of yet another series Activision.

Don't you think it's odd that now that Activision has usurped EA as the number one third party company, they're doing the exact same thing that EA has been doing for the last decade, schilling uninspired sequels to games far sooner then most gamers are ready for?

@tazarthayoot: My thoughts exactly. In other words, Activision has let the title of #1 publisher get to their heads.

This song sounds pretty awful, but I’d have to hear a studio version to make a proper judgment. No matter...I doubt I’ll be buying Guitar Hero IV unless there’s some songs by AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, the Eagles, or The Beatles in it.

The franchise is pretty ridiculous now.

I mean I know it isn't business smart (so it will never happen), but in the long-run supporting better DLC instead of going Madden on that ass and making the same game every year +roster updates, will keep the franchise relevant longer.

Considering the bat shit insane numbers GH3 did, I also expect to see a GH 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and GH: Best of 1 -> 10.

That's some crappy audio, but from what I can make out, it sounds like a pretty mediocre song anyway.

This gets a big MEH, as does GH4.

So wait, one new song *IS* Guitar Hero IV? So GHIV consists of only one song?

They should go the way of Singstar's DLC model, buy the game once and buy new stuff through the game.

What's that? Rock Band model works? (singstar adopted ftw) Activision/EA are just too used to their yearly version of games (how long until we start with Guitar Hero '08 editions?

Who cares? Rock Band kicks the poop out of Guitar Hero anyways. I know it doesn't have that same OMG CHALLENGE factor, but I think less gamers were looking for that than the ones that were looking for playing fun, popular songs.

As a side note, I've probably dropped close to 50 bucks already on Rock Band DLC. By the time GH4 comes out, That will have probably tripled. GG Activision, you guys suck.

Well, I don't think much of it at all. Since Harmonix relinquished control of the development of the Guitar Hero games, and especially now that I have Rock Band, I don't think I'll be buying another GH game, unless they do something like Guitar Hero: All of Dexter's Favorite Songs Ever Edition.

And that's the Answer.

So Guitar Hero has finally come full circle, from this obscure, weird little game with covers of big-name songs to a phoned-in megahit where Steven Nobody can get his song shoehorned in if he asks nicely? I'm happy for the Guitar Hero name, but sad for its integrity.

Guitar Hero has always included crappy no-name bands as bonus tracks since the beginning. Also: "OMG they just came out with a Guitar Hero last year! And the year before that they had the second Guitar Hero! And the year before that they had the first Guitar Hero! Fucking sellouts! I wish they'd keep raping us with shitty, overpriced DLC instead of releasing full games that give more/better songs for our money! What kind of soulness monsters would actually make sequels to a wildly popular franchise?"

I didn't really like the song. It was pretty generic sounding, but I'm sure the bad sound quality from the video didn't help that either...

Also, Guitar Hero is dead to me since Rock Band came out.

Anyone else starting to feel that Guitar Hero, as a franchise, has become a little played out? 'Cause I certainly do. I have GH3 and Rock Band and I'm pretty sure they will be enough musical entertainment for a good long while.

Yes, Rock Band is great, but who can actually afford that shit on their own. I'm looking to find a friend that will help me buy it so we can play multiplayer, but until then, I can't justify the price unless they lower it. Also, with the exception of the newly released Thrash pack which includes At The Gates, and the song Blackened by Metallica, the song list sucks. Seriously, if you guys are gonna give us something mainstream as far as metal goes, at least let us have a full album download for Master of Puppets. Or just the song Master of Puppets for that matter.

I'm surprised at the few people who are looking forward to AC/DC in this game. I've liked the franchise for not putting them in. I just find every song of theirs to be extremely boring and repetitive.

I'll be sticking with Rock Band.

Revived Demon, you do realized that you have just said that Deep Purple, The Rolling Stones, and The Who, along with the other excellent artists that appear in Rock Band, suck.
I am not one to question one's musical taste but you are extremely narrow minded musically.

Increase the guitar difficulty for rock band, drop the price of the rock band and its instrument controllers, use GH3's wireless controller, allow all of the GH4 songs as DLC. for it. And its all over.

Guitar's are used in genres other than metal, RevivedDemon.

Also, Mxy has the right of it. That's called business, my friends. Activision is a business. That is how businesses make money. They aren't making the game for you. In fact, I dare say most developers are not. Sure, they want you to be happy with the game, but that's only so that you buy it, and recommend it to your friends, who will also buy it.

I'd buy it maybe if it was sold at $40. But considering they sold their PS2 expansion pack at full price and they have refused to even compete with Rock Band on actually delivering DLC more than once a month, Fuck Them.

People will complain, but hey, everybody wants new songs. Everyone wants new songs, but doesn't want to pay $2 or more for each one...at least with a new game, you're paying more towards a dollar a song (less if you count unlockables). Truth be told, I have no major problem with it. Even the craziest of the crazies would not expect Activision to just sit on the license and not release any new content. So do you want to be DLC'ed to death or have a new game pitched to you each year. Personally, I prefer the games because for whatever reason, there hasn't been much in the way of DLC that I can't live without.

Also, remember that YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT. No one is raping your childhood, crapping on your gaming memories, or doing anything else hurtful to you by releasing a product that you can choose not to buy. For every one person bitching, five will buy the game. What do you expect them to do?

Im glad they are finally releasing the Rock Band peripherals as stand alones. More people really need to play it and forget all about the monstrosity that Guitar Hero has become.

Ill admit, I bought Guitar Hero 3, but I haven't even wiped the dust off the box since I got Rock Band.

No GH4 for me.
