At the recent “Digital Entertainment Conference” in New York this afternoon -- which created a number of stories on the site right now -- it was revealed that PS3-exclusive Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has sold over a million units, making it the most popular game named “Uncharted 2: Among Thieves” on the planet.
SCEA senior VP of business development Phil Rosenberg broke the news, saying simply, “As of last week, we’ve already sold over a million copies in just a couple of weeks on the market.”
Again, the number isn’t quite 4.7 million, but its still damn spectacular for a console-exclusive title starring a male protagonist without space armor. Or a chainsaw. Or a need for Agility Orbs.

I just don't understand why so many developers feel the need to add multiplayer to sequels recently.
But it wouldn't have sold nearly as many copies without the beta.
All those commenting with "Halo, or Crackdown" bullshit - don't forget, Uncharted 2 is limited to the (until-recently) expensive, yet feature laden PS3, not the cheap mass appealing 360.
It would be retarded to expect Ferrari tyres to outsell Ford Fiesta tyres.
Mass appeal does not correlate directly to quality.
And to those getting their panties in a twist about the Halo 3/Gears/Crackdown line. IT WAS A JOKE. Lighten up Nancys. Nowhere does he say they're bad games. Uncharted 2 was just as good, and just as much fun as your precious space marines. Accept it, or better yet, try it and stop whining. Crackdown was an awesome game though.
Nope. It would be retarded to equate PS3 to ferraris, and 360s to fiestas. Unless you're alluding to the fact that only cunts drive ferraris ;o)
The only reason I mentioned Crackdown/Halo3 Beta is because Brad insinuated it was a game that sold a lot 'Agility Orbs'... but that was not of it's own merit.
(again, not saying it's a bad game... i'll stop beating the dead horse now).
You make a good point, but trying to stop whining on the internet is like trying to stop poop from stinking.
Sidenote, Nolan North (Mr. Nathan Drake) also does the voice for Sigmund in R&C: Crack in Time. Santa Monica studio needs to call him up for something in God of War III just so he can have the PS3 exclusive hat trick.

Anyways, it's a good achievement that's dwarfed in comparison with the highly successful MW2. Though, like you said, MW2 had a much larger fan-base and much larger platform install base.
I see it still as a win for Naughty Dog, and more than reason enough to keep that DLC coming with plans for a sequel.

I own MW2 which is a very good fps but it doesn't have the beauty, fun and personality that is Uncharted 2: Among Theives.
